I'm going to have a niece on or near February 12, 2007. When we found out it was a girl, I was excited, but my heart sank a little because I thought I was going to have a niece named Harley, and while I knew I would love her, I knew I wouldnt love her name. Anyway, fast forward to yesterday afternoon. We're having lunch with the whole dang in-law clan and my husband mentions his soon-to-be-born niece "Harley" and my sis-in-law looks at him all disgusted like and says, "Harley?" My bro-in-law (husband's brother) says, "that's not what I told you. I even spelled it for you.... It's CARLY, C-a-r-l-y."
My husband says he was so shocked that he'd thought his brother said "Harley" that he stopped listening when he spelled it. They were on the phone, so I guess it's understandable. When he said the name was Carly, I actually kinda yelled out "Oh praise God." heh=)
Needless to say, I'm more than excited to fully be able to say that I'm going to have a niece named Carly Raine and I'm going to love love love her, AND her name! =)
(No, Carly isnt a name *I* would've picked, but it's substantially better than Harley for a little girl, I think)

Date: 2006-10-02 03:50 pm (UTC)I really dislike Carly though, its kind of trashy/chavy where i'm from. but it's probably associations, the sound is pretty i suppose.
I usually really hate masculine names on girls, but personally i'd go for Harley over Carly.
Glad you like it though!
