Concerning pets... I've always been a fan of choosing 'people' names. Like, I've named my hamster Milton and Basil and Violet, and my fish Jack and Scarlett... but that's just my opinion.

LOL at Schroedinger :) There's a cat in an episode of Stargate SG1 called that... I agree with the comment about using human names for animals. Call the cat Steve or something :)

I've always quite liked Ember as a name. Amber I think is a bit tacky but Ember is nice. Alma just makes me think of the character in Coronation Street...

Isis is beautiful but I dunno if the whole naming your kids after gods thing is a bit...well, too much. Also there's the chance it'd be shortened to Sissy which is horrible.
