yes! my boyfriend and i call each other 'muffin,' and sometimes that gets shortened to 'muff' which. ahem. draws some strange looks.

I bet that's the case with this family. Mom called her Muffy and Babe and Girlfriend and all sorts of other cute names. Only when Marissa got bratty did she get the full name. :)

I personally don't like Muffy at all but I can understand if it's like a pet name that only her mom/immediate family calls her (and her friends don't have to hear it when/if she's a teenager ...) I call my kid a weird nn too, but when she's older, no one has to know that. ;p
