I am Tabi. New to this community! My friend

I like unique names, names that you don't hear everyday. My husband and I are trying for baby number 2 and we are really big into planing ahead of time. We think we have the names picked out but, because son (Nikko) has two middle names my husband wants all of our children to have two middle names. This is only a problem when you like unique names because it is hard to find names that fit well together!

Anyways the girl name we chose I like the way it is. The boy name I am not to sure about. I just want some opinions and maybe if any of you have any ways to make (not "normal") but flow better. It would be so nice to hear your ideas, girls! Anyways here they are-

GIRL: Suchin Nissa Tali
BOY: Pavan kael Matteo

The only names I like there are Nissa, Tali, Kael and Matteo.

Nissa and Tali are quite nice but if I was a classroom teacher reading out the roll for the first time I would freak out with Suchin, and I think there's going to be similar problems all the time. I have NO idea how to pronounce it. There are several possible pronunciations, but the most obvious one (sutch-in) is the ugliest, and I assume the correct one would actually be nicer than that. But if it's not sutchin, then what else could it be? Soo-shin? Su-sheen?

It is pronounced Sue-chin.
I really do not care about how hard it would be for a teacher, (no offence to any teachers) I really just like the name, and I want any children that I have to have different names than the other kids in thier class anyways. Suchin is a Thai name. I love names from other countries. We took our first son's name from Japan.

Obviously you shouldn't just name your child to suit the teacher. But that was just an example of one situation, and I just think it is a name that will cause a lot of confusion. Would it be possible to hyphenate it to Su-Chin? Then it might be more obvious that it's a thai name and how to pronounce it. Just an idea

I am sorry if it seemed as though I was attacking you!! :( I was just saying I don't want to make a decision on my child's name to please anyone, I just wanted an opinion. I knew I was going to get some that I didn't want to hear, that is a good opinion!! (The truth, I mean!)

Hey, if you get a young enough teacher, s/he'll know Suchin from the mtv VJ of the same name.

I don't intend to be mean, but I'm not sure it's a good idea to name your child something that comes from a nationality that you don't have in you. =\ Unique names are fine, and there are plenty out there. I just don't like Suchin unless you're honoring your nationality. To me it's like naming a white kid Chang or Pocahontas or something. Or naming someone who isn't Polish Jadwiga or Bazyli. It's sort of odd and will be difficult for most everyone to pronounce. I like Nissa and Nikko, though.

Nissa is Scandinavian and Nikko comes from Japan.

And you can pronounce both of those without a second thought. Nissa reminds me of Vanessa or Nessarose and Nikko looks like a shortening for Nicholas or a twist on Nick. The other names just.. dont work for me, I'm sorry. And some are hard to pronounce. And chances are your child will end up not liking his or her name because people have a difficult time pronouncing it. I know I hate my name, Brandi, even if it's normal because I always have to tell people that it's spelled with an i instead of a y.

Also in the country (the us) almost every name you hear is actually from another country.This is a country full of immigrants! we are all foreign.
I am not saying that there aren't "american" names, there are but a majority of what people names there children come from all over the world. So what you are saying is really unfounded.

I know almost all of the names we use in America originate from other countries and that we're all foreign. My point is that I personally think it's silly to name your child a name that comes from a nationality that you're not affiliated with or have no connection to for the mere purpose of being different. I know I like Italian names and Celtic names while I'm neither, but the names I like from those backgrounds are easy to pronounce and have been used in America for quite some time. We can pronounce them easily in English. For example: I have a friend named Tasoula. Her father is Greek and wanted to give her a very Greek name. While I can understand her father wanting to name her something Greek to honor his grandmother and great grandmother, Tasoula isn't exactly fond of her name. But she lives with it because she knows her dad is proud of his heritage, having been raised there. However, if her dad wasn't from Greece, she said she would have been pissed if they still decided to name her that because everyone pronounces it incorrectly. And the thing is is that because she was adopted from Peru, she's not actually Greek herself, and she has a hell of a time explaining to people why she has a Greek name but isn't actually from Greece.

That got pretty long, but there it is.

I am very sorry that I made you feel that you had to explain your point like that!! :( I wasn't trying to seem harsh or attack you! It is soo hard to get a tone across on-line! I really do appreciate your opinion, I mean it! I am not here to make anyone mad!! :( I just wanted people's opinions, on the names we were thinking about. I hope I didn't offend you or anything.

Ahh, it's all right. I shouldn't have argued it to the death. Tasoula is just an example I always think of when it comes to using names that are only really well-known in their country of origin. I'm sorry if I came across as too harsh or like I was getting angry. I tend to do that on occasion. It is hard to get a tone across online. I just know what it's like to be named something you always have to spell and explain for people. I like Nissa, Nikko and Tali for names, but I'm personally not fond of the others. However, that is all obviously for you to decide. :) Just keep in mind how important it is for a child to be comfortable with their name.

Most of the names that are affiliated with my own culture bore me. you shouldn't be forced to stick with names from one origin, I like how you chose your names. : )

if you're having trouble coming up with unique names that fit well together, you could take a look at the random name generator (http://www.behindthename.com/random/) and get some ideas. I had a lot of fun with it ;)
