I would probably pronounce it...

oh-loo-wot-uh-muh-LAY-en

But I have nothing to base that on.

it's nigerian; i think a few yoruba names start with olu. i knew an oloyude who went by oli. i knew a nigerian emmanuel as well, hehe, who went by mani.

The Nigerian name is probably pronounced the same as the word Emmanuel in English (it's the official language of Nigeria) but judging by the person's first name the family probably speaks another language of Nigeria too.

btw my boyfriend's name is Emmanuel, but with the Spanish pronunciation ;)

I can imagine the kid trying to pronounce it as a three-year-old too. What on earth could he shorten it to? Ollie, Miles, Timmy ... actually for short names he has a fair choice.

Uh... I'd just be like "fuck it, I'm calling you Ollie."

They should have made Emmanuel his first name. =\
