[identity profile] dosequisgirl.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
I thought I would type up my list of boys names. I was going to post all of the strange names of coworks or customers I encountered yesterday, but I left the list at my desk last night. Oops, I hope no one sits at my desk and reads it. They will either think I'm a stalker or I a total bitch. Oh well.
Adrian (love, love love Adrian)
Addison (middle name)
Alexander (middle name only, and I might actually spell it the Russian way)
Arden (middle name)
Arlen (middle name)
Aurelius (middle name, don't think I could pull this off as a first name)
Avery (I know everyone and their sister thinks this is a girls name, but I love it for a boy and for a boy only)
Blaire (middle name)
Camden (reminds me of when I lived in South Carolina)
Cameron
Carter
Charles (my late father's first name, would love to be able to name a child after him, he was the best father anyone could ask for) (nicknames, Charlie or Chaz)
Colin
Connor
Corbin
Cullen, Cullan, Cullin
Darwin (guily pleasure, oh, just waiting to see what comments I get for this one, possibly a middle name)
Deacon (middle name)
Donovan, Donavan
Drake (middle name, possibly first)
Emerson
Everett (my late grandfather's first name, although he went by Kemp, which means fighter or champion, which really fit him)
Gabriel
Grayson, Greyson (love it, was almost one of Damien's names)
Harper (middle name)
Jackson (I know how popular this is, I just love the name Jack for some reason)
Jagger (middle name)
Jameson, Jamison
Jett (middle name)
Joel (middle name)
Jonah (middle name)
Jorah (middle name)
Jordis (middle name)
Julian (love it)
Julius
Kellan (middle name)
Kieran (love, love, love it)
Manning (middle name)
Max (middle name)
Myles (middle name)
Monroe (middle name)
Nico (middle name)
Nicolai, Nokolai (middle name)
Orion (middle name, don't know if I could pull it off as a first name)
Pierce
Presley (wouldn't work with the last name)
Preston
Quentin
Quinn (I know everyone thinks this is a girls name now, so I would use it as a middle name)
Ryder (because my fiancé is a former pro/am motocross racer and he loves it, I had to add it to my list, most likely a middle name)
Talon, Tallon (middle name)
Xavier (middle name)
Zander (middle name)

Some I don't know if I would use for a first name or a middle name. My son's name is Damien Maddox W.

My favorites are Adrian, Greyson or Grayson, Julian and my absolute favorite is Kieran. I would like to have the middle name start with an M, but it doesn't have to.
Like I've said in previos posts the last name would be Kirby.

Also, I wanted to mention I knew a woman who had a son Damien's age (two and a half) named Jaegen or Jaegan, not sure how it was spelled now. I just wanted to know what others think about the name. I personally thought it was cute. He was a very handsome little man.

I didn't see that you had Manning on there too! I plan on using it for my future son because it honors a friend.

Jaegan is a very made up addition to the Aidan club.

I think Jaegan is AWFUL. It looks and sounds really ugly. =/
I like a lot of your names, though.

Adrian - LOVE!
Arden - I've seen this on a lot of lists for girls. I've never really heard it before. Is it traditionally a boys name that people are trying to make "unisex?"
Avery - I love this for a boy only, too. :)
Camden - I like it as a middle name
Carter - ^Same
Colin - Nice
Connor - One of my very favorites, but really popular.
Corbin - I LOVE Corbin!
Cullen, Cullan, Cullin - Nice.
Everett - I like it, and I like that it has meaning to you.
Gabriel - Love.
Jonah (middle name) - Nice.
Julian - Great name.
Kieran - Love!
Preston - Ok.
Ryder - I've sort of been liking Ryder lately, but it does seem very trendy.

Love Deacon.
Jamison is about #3 on my list.
Corbin is on there somewhere, too.
And Carter.
Love Kieran, but my name is Kiersten, so I don't see that happening.
And I like Talon spelled Talan.

Love Julian! Charles is lovely, especially with the meaning behind it. Colin is a favorite of mine. Joel, Julius, and Jonah are nice too.
And that's it. Most of these names are trendy and dating.

Love:
Adrian, Alexander, Carter, Cullen, Cullan, Cullin, Julian, Nico

Like:
Avery, Colin, Gabriel, Jackson, Jonah, Kieran,Max,
Quinn, Xavier, Zander

I'd buy it as a middle name:
Arden, Blaire, Darwin, Deacon, Donovan, Donavan, Harper, Joel, Myles, Orion

Dislike:

Addison, Arlen, Aurelius, Camden, Cameron, Grayson, Greyson, Jorah, Jordis, Julius, Kellan, Manning, Monroe, Talon, Tallon

Undecided:
Connor, Corbin, Emerson, Nicolai, Nokolai, Pierce, Presley, Preston

And then there are the ones I can't help but comment on:

Charles - while Charles and Charlie are ok and you have awesome reasons for using it, I implore you please don't use Chaz as a nn. I just think it's terrible and makes me think of like, cheesy used car salesmen or something.

Drake - not terrible but my friend has a dog named this so I personally don't think of it as a fabulous people name.

Everett - I love this name. I knew a guy who was in his early twenties with this name and it just really worked for him (thereby proving nothing but the fact that it can go from little kid to old man nicely :D)

Jagger - I despise this, mostly bc I despise Mick Jagger though.

Jameson, Jamison - I know someone who gave this to their son as a mn. I like it.

Jett - this is the kind of name I'd usually not like right away but I met a kid with this name and so it kind of grew on me.

Quentin - I also know an older guy with this name. He's a character to say the least & it makes me like the name.

Ryder - my step son's mom gave this as a mn to her other son (it was a family name & the father's mn as well). I like it.

I love:

Alexander - Classic
Arden - This is one of my favorite girls' names. I don't like as a boy's name, to be honest. Mainly because the two Ardens I know are girls.
Aurelius - Reminds me of Marcus Aurelius so I like it.
Avery - I like it and actually think of it for a boy.
Charles - I love the nickname Charlie for it.
Connor - I once knew a very attractive Connor.
Darwin - Haha, love it for the same reason you probably do. :)
Donovan - My best friend's name.
Drake - I knew a hot Drake, so yeah. =)
Greyson - Like it as a mn only.
Jameson - Nice, and you can always call him James for short.
Joel - Nice and will age well.
Julian - One of my top 10 favorite boys names.
Kieran - Love it too. I like the Irish spelling Ciaran too. Same pronunciation.
Orion - Nice, and cute nickname possibilities.
Xavier - Love.

I don't like:

Blaire - Only Blaires I've known were girls.
Carter - Reminds me of Nick Carter. =\
Corbin - Reminds me of chicken cordon bleu for some reason.
Cullin - Looks too much like "culinary" to me.
Gabriel - I don't know, this name always struck me as feminine, although I know it's masculine.
Harper - Too old-fashioned for my tastes.
Jagger - Reminds me too much of Mick Jagger and jagermeister.
Jett - Kind of a jock-ish, no brains name to me.
Jonah - The name of my best friend's little brother. It always struck me as girly sounding. Funny enough as Jonah is the straight one and Donovan is the gay one. =\
Jorah - Again, a bit girly sounding to me.
Kellan - Just doesn't do anything for me.
Monroe - Reminds me of Marilyn Monroe.
Quinn - It means "queen" so it seems anti-masculine to me.
Ryder - Too similar to the noun for me.
Tallon - Reminds me of long, sharp nails.
