Cat Names

So, talking to my boyfriend about baby names either freaks him out, or he gets all silly and suggests things like Rizla, OR he just takes the piss out of the names I like!

But, talking about cat names is fine.

He has a tradition in his family of giving their pets really human names. For example they had cats called John and Donald. A hamster called Dierdre. And their budgie is Colin.

So, to distract myself from obsessing over baby names I have been trying to come up with some very human names for a cat. All I have thought of so far is Josephine and Francessca. But apparently names with one or two sylables are ideal for cats (so they can recognise their name I guess).

So, please help me come up with some very human names. They don't even need to be names you like, just very human!

Thanks :)

I love human names on animals. My cats are called Lucy and Isaac. My favorite for Isaac was actually Daniel, but my boyfriend didn't like that. I liked Thomas too. If I got another girl cat, I'd probably call her Lola.

You could name it Josephine and call it Josie... as in Josie & The pussycats! LOL

As a person who married a man with the same name as her first dog, I'm opposed to people names for pets. He wanted to name our first son Sam, and I just couldn't get the German Shepherd out of my head.

It's spelled 'syllable' so that might help if you put it in a translator! =)

I LOVE human names for pets! I use names that I love but wouldn't use on a baby for whatever reason. My three kittens are Emma, Lila, and Mia.

lol all of the ones suggested here still wouldn't seem that unusual for pet names IMO...I think it would weird to see animals called something like:
Dan
Dave
Rick
Steve
Tim
Eric
Jonathan

....I guess it's just guys' names that sound odd as pet names.

ok and almost all of those were one-syllabled. I guess that's why they sound weird to me.

I don't like names like "Fluffy" and "Blacky" for cats. It drives me nuts!

My cats are all females and their names are Kaeyah (pronounced "Ky-a"), Sierra & Gracie. I gave my boyfriend a list of names I liked and he picked the one he liked best. Kaeyah is the name I wanted for my first-born girl, but it suited her so well. I wanted to name Sierra, Gabriella but my bf was sooo against it, lol. So I call her Sierra-bella just because it sorta sounds the same :P And Gracie, well that was all my doing. I liked the name and it definitely works for her. :)

Anyway, I also like Lucy. It's cute!
