My name is Sarah (I go by Sera, its too common otherwise) and my boyfriend (soon to be fiance) is Adrian.
Sarah Amy Wild / Adrian Robert Evans. The last name shall be Evans.
We have discussed and chosen a name for a possible daughter..
Abigail Imogene Seranade
Abigail is Adrians choice, Imogene is mine, and Seranade is Sera + Ade together. She will be called Abigail Imogene.
Name for our son will be..
Ezra Jonathan

Date: 2006-09-13 05:41 am (UTC)I understand what you're doing here, but the people who don't understand the reference may just think this is the word serenade misspelled. You wouldn't consider using poetic license on your nickname and using the standard spelling, would you?

Date: 2006-09-13 05:44 am (UTC)It is the girlchild of myself and my boyfriend. Sera and Ade. I have specifically chosen that spelling because of the reason that if we are lucky enough to have a girl, she is our legacy, and I want her to know that.
People are not necessarily going to know that Seranade is part of her name anyway, it is a middle name. And how many people use their middle names on documents which aren't government papers?

Date: 2006-09-13 08:26 am (UTC)I like Ezra Jonathan a lot, especially Jonathan. Abigail Imogene Seranade is pretty nice, but I prefer Imogen to Imogene.

Date: 2006-09-13 08:32 am (UTC)The girl's is too long. Pick one middle name is my recommendation - or at least shorten ont of the middle names. My DH has two middle names and he never uses both and in fact doesn't know which one comes first.
Did you think of using your last name as her middle name?
Abigal Wild Evans sounds pretty darned good. :)
I personally don't care for 'Imogene' at all, probably because of a famous actress of the past that was really strange looking and named that - Imogene Coca - http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0168042/

I think Abigail Imogen Evans sounds really pretty, Seranade just kind of wrecks it.
Ezra Jonathan is cute!

Date: 2006-09-13 12:48 pm (UTC)Ezra would be fine if the last name wasn't Evans
Jonathan is the only good one.

Date: 2006-09-13 01:36 pm (UTC)Do you mean you're going to pretend that Seranade isn't part of the name? Or do you mean that you're going to refer to her as "Abigail Imogene" in regular conversation? Because it's fine if it's just the middle name and you don't use it, but I think Abigail Imogene is a little much for a little kid. Just Abby sounds better.

Date: 2006-09-13 02:40 pm (UTC)Abigail is nice, I just don't know how I feel about pairing Imogene with it. Abigail is a normal, more modern name while Imogene is a name that was made up from another made up name way back in the Elizabethan era and not really used anymore. I like Imogen better with it, since it is more of a "real" name because of it being used in Cymbeline. It was actually supposed to be published as Innogen, which was a "real" name back in its day although it's hard to find in books and websites now since Imogen took over from that first mispublication. But anyway - I'm actually quite fond of Imogen (it's on my list of favorite names) - just not of Imogene.
I understand that you're trying to make up a new name from yours and your boyfriend's with Seranade, but honestly, that's not always a good thing to do. Especially since what you've come up with is actually a real word, just misspelled. If you went with spelling it Serenade like the word, it would still have the meaning behind it because it's pronounced the same way, it would just look a lot more aesthetically pleasing and no one could constantly ask you why you misspelled "serenade" for your daughter's name. Even if you don't use it that often, people will notice at one point or another and either ask you or your daughter about it. And you'll avoid your daughter ever asking "why couldn't you just spell it the normal way?" Because not every child appreciates and understands that you were trying to give them a bit of yours and your boyfriend's legacy. Serenade is pretty.. just not Seranade. =\
WOW, that was long, lol. But there you go.

Date: 2006-09-13 07:20 pm (UTC)But I really don't like Abigail, and it's very popular. I prefer Imogene Abigail. Or Imogene Seranade.
I really like the idea of you using Seranade, it's cute.

Date: 2006-09-13 07:46 pm (UTC)The world doesn't need another Abigail. Seriously.
I see what you're trying to do with Seranade, but unfortunately it looks and sounds horrible to me. It's a nice idea in theory, though.
I prefer Imogen over Imogene.
Ezra is fine.
But none of the combos flow in my head. Sorry!
