My fiancé's list

We can't seem to agree on much of anything. I only like a couple names from his list, the rest I either hate or I'm indifferent to.

Abigail (we both have this on our lists) nickname Abby
Alanna
Arden (he loves it, it's the name of the community he's from) (it's growing on me)
Ashlee (I don't like it, sorry to my friends named Ashley)
Kallista, Callista...nickname Callie (hate Callie)
Cameron (we both have it on our lists)
Charlie (I don't mind it since my dad's name was Charles, it would be a nice tribute to him, but it won't work with the last name Kirby)
Coral...nickname Corie? (I don't think it needs a nickname. I don't think Coral sounds good with Kirby)
Hollie (I don't like it)
Ivy
Jayla
Kaylin
Katlyn (hate the spelling and I don't so much like the name)
Lara
Lindsay (ugh, how I don't like this name)
Misty (yuck, bad association for me)
Morgan (his grandmother's maiden name)
Paige (I like it, but it's my brother's ex wife's name and I hate her)
Rhiannon
Tanya (no!)

Abigail
Alanna
Callista
Morgan

I really don't like Cameron on a girl (especially since it means "crooked nose".)

would Arlene be better than Arden?

[identity profile] ciara-belle.livejournal.com 2006-09-11 05:03 pm (UTC)(link)
I really like Abigail. And I agree with you on Ashlee, I'm not the biggest fan of the name, especially since I'm an 80s baby and went to school with a million Ashleys. I especially hate that spelling.

I also like Alanna, Lara and Callista.

my cousin named her daughter arden (who is now 5). everyone in the family kind of wrinkled their noses when we heard the name, but shes the sweetest girl, i love her, so ive grown to love the name. i believe her middle name is kathleen.

Abigail Morgan Kirby is quite beautiful.

I like Alanna, Callista, Morgan, Rhiannon.

Callista is my favorite, but if Kirby is the last name, I really don't think any of the kuh- sounding names sound good with it. (Or the names ending with -ee sounds.)

Alanna is very pretty and unusual. I really like the family tie of Morgan. That name has been very popular lately, but I think less now than it used to be. Both Alanna and Morgan sound nice with Kirby.

i like; Arden (ive never heared it, but sounds good)
Coral, and i think Coral Kirby sound a little odd.. damnit:(
i lovee Ivy, but i would write it like Evi
Morgan is also very nice :)

[identity profile] fleckerbug.livejournal.com 2006-09-12 11:09 am (UTC)(link)
Those would be too different pronunciations wouldn't they? Ivy and Evi?

[identity profile] xcuore.livejournal.com 2006-09-12 11:45 am (UTC)(link)
yes, but Evi is just the dutch way of writing Ivy.
So you can spreak out Evi on the english way as well :)

[identity profile] fleckerbug.livejournal.com 2006-09-12 12:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, interesting, I was trying to think of a language where Evi would sound like Ivy. And I lvoe Dutch(don't know much about it, just like it, want to learn it).. silly me. :)

[identity profile] xcuore.livejournal.com 2006-09-12 12:48 pm (UTC)(link)
no thats not silly lol

but i think you'd have more benefit if you learned German, it looks a lot to dutch...
but if you already know german, dutch will be very easy for you :)

[identity profile] fleckerbug.livejournal.com 2006-09-12 12:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, I only know English and Spanish. Would like to know both German and Dutch, though. (Dutch more, though). My husband wants to go to school in Holland.. *sigh*.. someday I will learn Dutch.

[identity profile] xcuore.livejournal.com 2006-09-12 12:54 pm (UTC)(link)
how cool!

why does he wants to go to school here?

[identity profile] fleckerbug.livejournal.com 2006-09-12 01:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, I visited Holland while going to school in Paris(didn't manage to learn French..lol) and absolutely fell in love with it. Once upon a time I wanted to go to an art school there, but have since changed my direction. There is some school in/near amsterdam that had a Masters program he was interested in(life has since slowed us up a bit :) ). He is getting his Master's in Theology and Religious Studies right now in Berekely, CA, USA and is applying to PhD programs for next year. He's never been to Holland, but has been to other parts of Europe and just thinks he'd like Holland (I do not gush over much the way I gush over Hlland to him ! :) We know at some point we are going to move to Europe for him to study. Probably Holland or England(his grandmother is form England and he/we have a lot of family there).

[identity profile] xcuore.livejournal.com 2006-09-12 01:03 pm (UTC)(link)
thats so cool^^
well holland is only 2 hours away from england, so it doesnt really matter were youre going, you can always visit the "other country"

With Kirby I would stay away from names starting with K-sounds and names ending in -ie/y.

[identity profile] xcuore.livejournal.com 2006-09-12 01:04 pm (UTC)(link)
