[identity profile] miss-tee.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
I know some people like to check with Social Security Online (myself included) to see the popularity of names (it's great because you can search and see different years etc). I am not from the U.S. though, I'm from Canada, so I started to wonder how the lists compare. So I did a search for the top Canadian baby names. I would be interested in seeing the top names from the countries where other community members live. So feel free to post the top names of your country/state/whatever.

I love French names. Océane is just gorgeous.

Enzo sort of surprised me bc it sounds so Italian, and Killian's is one of my favorite beers - I didn't even know it was used as a first name!

I know, I love French names. They're all so pretty. My first thought was of the beer, too, when I saw Killian.

Emma isn't in the english top 10! i think it's actually as low as 30 something. Emma is a verrrry popular name for the 1980's over here... i know so many. I havent actually looked up the stats or anything, but i do know a ridiculous amount... not sure it's quite the american jennifer of 80's britain though!

It's funny to see Emma on so many lists. And it's often in the top 10, too!

It's funny how there are both the masculine and feminine versions of names in there, like:

Giuseppe/Giuseppina
Giovanni/Giovanna
Maria/Mario
Antonio/Antonietta
Francesco/Francesca
Carlo/Carla
Luciano/Lucia
Angelo/Angela
Paolo/Paola
Franco/Franca

Did I miss any?

I know someone who is half-Italian, half-English, called Francesca Giuseppina, Giuseppina is her middle name and she doesn't like it. Is that a mouthful?

That is a mouthful!
