Bristol Palin (daughter of former Alaskan governor Sarah Palin) has given birth to a daughter named Sailor Grace. Sailor is her second child; her son Tripp Easton Mitchell is now seven years old.

I've always thought the Palins chose strange names; Bristol's siblings are Track, Trig, Willow, and Piper, but I admit that I used to like the name Sailor. Kristin Cavallari had a daughter just a few weeks ago named Saylor, so maybe it's on the rise.

WDYT?

I tend to prefer stranger names as the middle and not the first name. Grace Sailor sounds just as nice to me.

Well, long ago I named a cat Dutik, meaning tail wheel of airplane (in Russian). I wrote here I thought to give my daughter the name Neila after Neil Armstrong, astronaut. But Piper?! Oh, no. It will always remind me about poisons and agriculture -)

Liv Tyler also has a son Sailor at the start of the year, so I expect it would be on the rise for both genders though I prefer it on girls.

I find it a bit cutesy/nicknamey but if I had to pick between Sailor and Taylor, I'd go for Sailor.

Wait, I'm confused. Didn't someone else name their kid this exactly?

I think it's tacky if only because the father is Dakota Meyer and he is a Marine.

Oddly, I'm most surprised that little Sailor doesn't have a second nickname. All the Palins do, if I'm remembering correctly.
