Two sisters I'm acquainted with are both having baby girls a handful of months apart. The first one picked a super bland boring name, but the older sister chose Graley Joy which by itself looks like it's trying too hard to be trendy, but it's actually her maiden name and the middle is one of her sister's middle names.

It's the cutest family-honoring name I've heard. Kind of obsessed.

Thoughts? Has anyone ever known someone who names their child a family surname?

Graley made me think mum went with name mash up but knowing its a maiden name I like it much better & it makes sense. There are at least several good nn options: Gray, Rae, Lee etc

I know a couple named for mum's maiden name Elliott, Anderson and Baker.

I know a lot more kids with family surnames as middle name like Phalen, Hall & Darelle etc, ect

If we have multiple boys we plan on using my maiden name Thomas for a middle name

It passes inspection because it's her maiden name but all I can think about is Theon Greyjoy. And yeah a lot of people do that. My friend used her maiden name Graham on her son

Our neighbor had a little girl. Her middle name is Tracey, the mom's maiden name. It flows nicely with her first name too.

I do know someone who used her maiden name Bronson as a name for her son. Doing that confuses me since a security question is always "what was your mom's maiden name?" Not very secure when it's your first name as we!!.

I have a friend named Haley, which was her mother's maiden name.

Knowing that it's a maiden name, Graley isn't as bad, but it just comes off as stupidly trendy and made-up, unfortunately.

I considered using my maiden name, Skene, for a boy, but was swiftly vetoed.
