Samson or Sampson?

This is a potential boy name and I hate it with the p, but I feel like that is the "correct" way.

Samson. I've never seen it with a 'p' except in a last name, but I don't think that's the 'correct' way at all.

Definitely Samson without the P. Like even pronounced without the P is better.

I like both but much prefer just 'Sam' by itself as a given name :)

Samson for a first name. Sampson with the p is a last name to me.

If you spell it with the P, the child will have specify when people are spelling it. I think most people would assume Samson when they heard it.

I didn't realize that it ever gets spelled without the p... though working in child care and seeing some crazy children's names/spellings I shouldn't be surprised any more. Sampson is the correct spelling. It's a real name from a pretty commonly known story (at least in my experience). I would just assume it was spelled with a P and seeing it without just seems wrong to me. Also, computer spell check accepts Sampson but not Samson.

I like traditional spellings of pretty much all names and because of that Samson just seems sort of lazy, or like the parents are poorly read. Maybe this is because I've grown up hearing the story and reading quite a bit but spelling it any other way that the traditional spelling just feels strange.

Definitely Samson. Sampson is just one letter away from Simpson and this is precisely how the boy would be teased for the rest of his life.
