[identity profile] smasharash.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
Not planning to have more babies any time soon, but I still love thinking about and collecting names. My daughter is Ivy Annabel which I love, and had picked out for years, though I wasn't sure if I would be confident enough to use it (it was unusual at the time, neither of us had ever met or knew of another Ivy). Next time I think I might feel more confident about using a name just because we love it, but in any case we wouldn't make a firm decision until meeting the baby (like we did with Ivy; we had lots of other names but she was just so obviously an Ivy).

So, these are the names we like, and I'm curious as to which names you think go with Ivy (regardless of whether you like them), and always open to more suggestions!

Boys:
Indigo
Ezra
Rowan
Dylan

Girls:
Asha
Rowan
India
Thalia/Talia

And names I like but don't love (yet)
Matteo
Thea
Mira
Elodie
Mattea
Rory
Otis
Robyn
Kate
Nathalia
Natalie
Keziah
Arlo
Fern

And just for fun, my three year old likes making up her own names for her toys. Some of her favourites...

Borgan, Instrince, Karna, Arla, Canadie. And her favourite real names are Emily and Eliza.

Ivy is one of my favourite names, its timeless :D

I think the ones that go best imo are Erza, Rowan [plants names together :D], Thalia and Thea.

I've only ever know one Ivy, she's 9, siblings Molly, Max & Archie. Such a lovely name, but she's family so it's off my list.

Second Rowan, Ezra & Thea, Asha, Eliza. Suggestions Imogen, Stella & Tess?

I like Rowan as a unisex name but when its paired with Ivy it seems more masculine.

I really hate Keziah(I know a lot of people with this last name and it's STUCK as a last name), Robyn with a Y, Fern, Otis, Mattea, Matteo, ASHA(which is also the company I work at), India, Dylan, Indigo and Erza.

The others are rather nice. I really like Elodie.

Wait how do you pronounce Nathalia? Because I"m pronouncing it like Nath - alia and if you're meaning it to be Natalia, then I hate it spelled like Nathan. I like Natalia well well enough.

Really? I was just being honest about the names and they're only my opinion. Please take them with a grain of salt, I'm not in your life and it really shouldn't matter what I think. :) Either way I don't think the names at all and the ones I mentioned that I do like go well as a sibset.

I hate a lot of names. A lot of people hate a lot of names. I hate the Isabella or any version of it but it's incredibly popular. lol. I don't see why this makes me an angry person. lol.

Cool! Cause I kept saying NATH-alia like nathan and that sounded odd.

oh and I only like Elodie if pronounced EL-odie instead of el-O-dy...like Melody.

I think Ivy and Elodie would be a great sibset. I also like Rowan, which carries the plant theme but isn't too matchy-matchy. Maybe something like Saffron or Calla would fit as well, along the plant theme. Linden? Cassia?

I think Ivy is quite an elegant, classic name, so Ezra and Otis go well with that, being of a sort of Victorian vintage.

I don't really like sibling combos that are both vowels. Also anything with like end sounds (ee/y sound.)

Of your list I like: Rowan (for both sexes.) I also like Talia but prefer Natalia- I think those would be really nice together: Ivy and Natalia.
