Kiesza

A really great musical artist whose name I've been pronouncing 'kee-sha' to this point... usually I'm pretty good at sussing out pronunciations of names from different ethnic origins.

Apparently, according to a radio DJ and to a photographer friend who took some album pictures for her, it's pronounced 'kai-zah'.

huh. I don't know how I feel about this.

Any other oddball pronunciations you've encountered?

I thought "kaizah" first...Idk I seemed to have ignored the S.

I would have said Kee-sha at first just like you did.

I had a patient many years ago whose first name was Calliope. It was pronounced Kal-ee-OH-pee.

Hmm, re Calliope, that's one of the main the pronunciations I've heard, along with Cal-ee-oh-PEY

I'd only every heard it pronounced Cal-AI-oh-pee.

I'd have probably got to Key-szha, which would also have been hugely wrong :D
