Emily Carla Marie & Michael Dominic Scott

OR

Emily Carla Nicole & Michael Bradley Scott

On that note, I am also rethinking using the FNs Emily and Michael. They are extremely common in most places, however in my generation I knew maybe 2 of each throughout school. Anyway-- I am starting to think I want to use different names. But I really love Emily & Michael.

I guess when it comes down to it, I'm wondering if using a common name is worth it if you really love the name,...

Ps. Slowly but surely falling in love with the names Savannah & Olivia. But Olivia is becoming even more common than Emily, is it not?

I think 3 names plus a last name can be a bit much for a social security card to swallow.

I know lots of people with two middle names, myself being one of them. It's never been a problem.

You may not know many Emily's but your daughter will.
in 2005 there were 23,000 Emily's born in USA compared to 15,000 Olivia's, so quite a significant difference, also Emma is number 2, 19,000 so quite a lot of Em's!
Emily has been number 1 for 10 years, Olivia has been steadily rising.. 10 years ago it was 39, now 5. I dont think it will drop any time soon but there are definetly a lot less Olivia's then Emily's.

Personally, if i loved a name enough i would use it regardless of popularity...unless it was number one!
For some reason it doesnt seem such a big deal to me of a boys name is popular or not, Michael has been number 1 or 2 for the past 52 years, which is ages, so it's fair to say there are a lot of michaels out there! I dont know why, but that wouldnt bother me as much as using a popular girls name.

I am set against my children being one of many with the same name in their class. I just don't like the idea of my child having to be "Emily E", for example. Though my name is quite common now, when I was growing up I only knew one other Lauren, and I liked that. I agree with anapology, though you may not have known many Emily's or Michaels, you daughter certainly will. For me, even if I loved a name I wouldn't use it if it was very popular, I love the names Amelia and Lily but won't use then if they are as popular as they are now when I have children. So yeah, it just depends how important it is to you.

Anyway, I prefer Michael Dominic Scott and Emily Carla Nicole.

I think if you like Emily and Michael then use them. They are so well used because they are great names. Though I don't like Emily I do think it's a nice name just not for me LOL.

Emily Carla Marie sounds better and Michael Bradley Scott sounds better.

I don't have a popularity chart near me (and I feeling another poster commented on it) but my guess is that Emily is still beating Olivia in popularity.

I really like Savannah Carla Marie is quite pretty.

I really can't advocate bringing another Emily or Michael into the world. But there are worse things.

I just think that overly popular names somewhat defeat the purpose of a name. A name is to give someone an identity. If you cannot use a name to differentiate between multiple people in a group even as small as a class room, then the name is failing at it's basic purpose.

But that's just my two cents.

That said, I prefer Marie & Dominic.

those names are just so popular! if you really love them that much, i say go for it. but you will probably encounter a ton of children the same age as yours that have the same name.

what about amelia and micah?

I like your first two options: Emily Carla Marie & Michael Dominic Scott

Carla is close to my name (Carlie) and I love Dominic but my boyfriend doenst like it bc we're not Italian.

Emily and Michael are really popular. However, my favorite name is Ava, which is rapidly moving up the charts, and if she has to be Ava W., she has to be Ava W. If you like a name, you should use it!!!

I never liked Olivia that much, but Livvy is an amazing nn.

Savannah is a bit too much for me, but I really like Scarlett.
