Anyone like the name Mikaelyn? said (M-KAY-LIN) not sure of the spelling, as this name just popped up into my mind outta no where lol or even Mikyla (again.. not sure on spelling, but said like M-KAI-LAH)
Dislike it. Michaela is the original spelling of the name, all the Makayla/Mikala/M'Cayler stuff is just phonetic disintegration. Bad move. Mikyla, as you've written it, would be pronounced mih-kye-la. Not the effect you're going for, I suspect. Mikaelyn is closer, phonetically, but looks like two names got mashed together and couldn't be disentangled.
The traditional spelling is Michaela, and it's gotten way, way, way popular. If that doesn't bother you, it's a good name. I like it. I just don't like the phonetic butchering it has gone through.
I don't mind Michaela, it sounds pretty and it's one letter off from spelling my grandmother's name so it doesn't give me a super trendy connotation. I also have a friend whose name is pronounced the same way, but spelled Macala. It suits her and I like it - she's also 20, not 4. But any other spelling with y's or ae's just drives me nuts, looks too immature like a 12-year-old named her...I can't stand it.
I'm sorry, it's not good. All the screwy spellings and versions of Michaela have been done to death, and most of them a good 5-10 years ago. And -lyn names too. It's like you're jumping on the trendy train, but too late, as all the other passengers have already moved on to the next fresh trend.
Judging from a few of your posts, you really need to get away from the uber trendy crap. That means ditch the Mck-girl names, the -aden boy names, and a warning for future use, don't name after cities.
Real names are preferrable. People seem to forget that these people will have to grow up with these names for good. It's not like naming a puppy.
It's not my main goal to pick a name that everyone likes, and no, i do not need to grow a thicker skin, all i was asking is if people liked it or not, but whatever.
I have to agree. It seems like this name combines the most awful of trends (including the "Made Up Combo of Several Not Good Names" category) and is just not good.
My sister named my niece Mikayla, and I tried to gently nudge her toward Michaela (which I think is a nice name, personally) but she decided to butcher it instead. *sigh*

So either grow a thicker skin, or name her Emily. I don't know what else to tell you.
