Martha!

I really love the name Martha and recently found out that it was the name of my great-great-grandmother. Seems like quite a legitimate reason to use the name, in my opinion :)

I still like my out there names (like Meadow) but I think Martha is a great fall-back for if I have a daughter and decide to tone down the name and go for normal rather than unique.

What middle names would you suggest for Martha? Do you like the name?

I love Martha. I might go with Marthe which is how my ancestors spelled it, but either way I really like it. Old fashioned, but still pretty.

I do like the name Martha. What are some other family names that might work as a middle name? I would match it with a one-syllable name myself...

I don't think I could ever see the name Martha on anyone besides an older woman to be honest.

It isn't my favourite name. It always makes me think of the movie Martha Marcy May Marlene (great movie, but what a mouthful!). I like some old-lady names, but this isn't one of them.

My 60 year old aunt is Martha. She was born on the 4th of July and she's named after Martha Washington. (Interesting fact, my mother was born on Feb 15 and she's named Susan after Susan B. Anthony. Ohhh... my grandmother... )

Martha to me is an old lady name. I'm honestly not a fan. Its also hard for me to pronounce correctly because I have a hard New England accent and we drop our "r" and it always sounds like I'm saying Mah-thah.

Great song by the Beatles "Martha, my dear"
