Framboise

WDYT of Framboise as a middle name? Specifically, Isolde Framboise.

I love raspberries - colour, flavour, smell - but Raspberry is not a name. I think Framboise was a character in a Joanne Harris novel, but I wouldn't use it as a first name.

I can't decide. My first instinct is that it's a little ridiculous, but then I remember that I like some ridiculous names too, so there's nothing wrong with that. As a middle name, it might be sweet. Isolde Framboise is pretty sweet.

It's a little bit wonderful. Agree about middle name ness. :)

I am of the opinion that middle names don't matter.

Framboise? Silly name, imo.

Personally I'd be tempted to pair a more 'mainstream' middle name with Isolde as I think it's quite unusual in itself.

It's my last name, I'm 26 now and some idiots still call me raspberry. Please don't do that to your child.

As a native French speaker, I find it weird, of course, but does everyone know what it means in non-French speaking countries?

Anyway, what amused me and made me want to comment is that it was the nickname my mother gave to my childhood friend, who's name is Françoise, because that same friend sometimes called me Mirabelle instead of Isabelle.

Framboise is the name of one of my favorite beers.
I don't dig it as a name.

I'm all for eccentric middle names.

This is obscure trivia but Framboise is the name of Caillou's mother in the French version of the show (a cartoon for preschoolers). My daughter took a toddler French class and that's how I know.

I wasn't sure how to pronounce it, so I took it to the internets and found a website with a audio. After hearing it, it doesn't even sound like a girl name to me, imo. I saw in the comments that someone else was looking for the pronunciation because they were making a recipe and they needed to buy Framboise (the liquor?), so to me, its the same category as naming her Tequila, Margarita, Champagne, Sherry, etc. I wouldn't do it.

I had a college professor names Brandy Champagne and her sons name was Rylan "Rye" Champagne. I'm still confused by it.
