[identity profile] after-the-ashes.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
We're about to find out the sex of our babe and I'm kind of sad! If it's a girl, we are already set for a first name, and it will be fun to come up with middle names (we do two middle names), but it's been so fun debating and searching for the perfect boys name. I love that part more than finding it. Anyway, thought I'd share some of the possibilities.

Our Top Girl Name: Ngaire/Nyree - it's a Maori name and I'm having a hard time deciding on spelling. Obviously, the Maori spelling is not obvious on how it's pronounced, which is problematic, I know. But I also think Nyree is a bit cutesy/made-up looking, which I dislike. Also, I like the slight vowel sound that the spelling Nyree lacks completely, except in that my youngest daughter coincidently says it that way when she tries to say it.

Top Boys Name:
Iver (both)
Desmond (hubby more)
Ogden (me more)
Vincent (me more)
Victor (hubby more)
Ansel

Hubby Top Boys Names I've nixed:
Odin
Thor
Axel

My Top Boys Names he's nixed:
*edit to add: Bram (how I forgot my fav top boy's name I don't know)
Lysander (I love the nn Sandy for a boy)
Isaac
Remy

Thoughts? Suggestions? I feel like we've literally seen every name under the sun at this point, but middle names for our Girl Pick?

I prefer the Nyree spelling as I just think it would be easier to spell.

I like:
Nyree Charlotte
Nyree Alexis
Nyree Sophia
Nyree Brooke

I really like Ogden, I think it has a cool vibe. Vincent and Victor are nice too.

If you say "nyree" people are still going to need to ask how to spell it. And you will still get some mispronunciations ("neary"). I would use the original, especially if you live in an area where people may be expected to recognize its origin.

I like all your mutual boy names, good call on nixing the god names lol.

Ogden is a cool way to get the nickname Denny. Like t better than Dennis.
