We're about to find out the sex of our babe and I'm kind of sad! If it's a girl, we are already set for a first name, and it will be fun to come up with middle names (we do two middle names), but it's been so fun debating and searching for the perfect boys name. I love that part more than finding it. Anyway, thought I'd share some of the possibilities.

Our Top Girl Name: Ngaire/Nyree - it's a Maori name and I'm having a hard time deciding on spelling. Obviously, the Maori spelling is not obvious on how it's pronounced, which is problematic, I know. But I also think Nyree is a bit cutesy/made-up looking, which I dislike. Also, I like the slight vowel sound that the spelling Nyree lacks completely, except in that my youngest daughter coincidently says it that way when she tries to say it.

I prefer the Nyree spelling as I just think it would be easier to spell.

If you say "nyree" people are still going to need to ask how to spell it. And you will still get some mispronunciations ("neary"). I would use the original, especially if you live in an area where people may be expected to recognize its origin.

I like all your mutual boy names, good call on nixing the god names lol.

Ogden is a cool way to get the nickname Denny. Like t better than Dennis.

We aren't somewhere people would know the name. But, I like your point about them having to spell it after saying it, that makes me lean towards the traditional spelling. The Nyree spelling is the English/Anglicized version, but it just seems to lack all the lustre of the name to me. Also, we don't have to worry about teachers butchering reading it until high school since our kids get Chinese names for school.

We have 2 girls and ever since the beginning of my pregnancy the only thing people seem to be interested in is the damn sex of the baby (umm, you can't tell at 12 weeks people)! It has been driving us nuts and we really wanted to wait and make it a surprise. But! We literally just got rid of all our baby stuff right before this happened and some awesome mamas will save stuff for us if we find out and let them know. And, even though I'd like to keep it from some more persistent boy-wanters, I couldn't tell some and not others.
