I'm started to think about/consider a few more unusual choices. What are your thoughts on the following (they are a little more 'out there' for me and my family considering we all have very traditional names - think Thomas, Daniel, Amy etc. etc.)

Sullivan ('Sully')
Jasper
Maria
Marley (for a girl)
Cordelia

Other top contenders are likely to be Max, Oliver, Charlie for a boy, I think Molly is currently my top girl's choice.

I really liked Sullivan/Sully but my husband wouldn't go for it because we didn't have a connection to the last name in our family or through an admired famous person or anything. I just liked the sound of it. :)

Jasper is getting too popular for me, but again I think it has a very cute sound. Type it in the Name Voyager, I bet it is on trend. No big deal if that is not a negative for you. I like it!

Maria - timeless, Catholic, sounds a bit Spanish or South American

Marley - reminds me of a dog - is there a book about a dog named Marley? Or the ghost guy in A Christmas Carol

Cordelia - Very pretty, Shakespearean, sounds intelligent, reminds me of Anne of Green Gables, is there a good nickname? Delia seems forced, Cordy sounds sort of strange.

I love Sullivan and Cordelia! Both are high up on my own list :) I grew up with a Marley so I think it's pretty cute. Maria is not my cup of tea but I have nothing against it, and I think Jasper is quite nice as well :)

I like them all, particularly Jasper. My husband vetoed Jasper because of all this Twilight nonsense (including Rosalie, which I LOVE), so I wound up naming my dog Jasper.

I really like all of these with the exception of Marley; I just can't dissociate that name from Marley and Me, nor Bob Marley.

I absolutely love the name Sully. And Sullivan is growing on me. Jasper and Marley I also like, don't mind Maria (my middle name is Marie) but I realllly dislike Cordelia. Just my 2 cents!

I like a lot of these. I really love Cordelia. We considered that for a girl name. I like Sullivan too quite a bit.

Jasper and Maria are ok to me.

I dislike Marley. I have a niece named Marley and I'm not a fan. I think of marijuana due to the Bob Marley association. It doesn't help that my brother-in-law and ex sister-in-law were big fans of smoking it! But it also makes me think of the dog. And I really dislike that everyone calls her Marls. It just isn't cute.

I hate Maria (which I think is as traditional as Thomas, Daniel and Amy, but maybe that's just me). and Marley. Sullivan and Jasper are nice. Cordelia is pretty great, just for the Shakespeare connection. I've considered it myself just for that.

I like Jasper, Maria(pretty common to me, btw), Marley, Oliver and Charlie. I also like Molly but as a nickname for something.

i *adore* Marley. we had it on our first list but then reconsidered because our last name is Shirley and it sounded silly. lol
