Getting down to the wire!

I am due in less than 3 weeks with my first baby, a girl. My husband and I have realized that we really won't know her name until we meet her but want to have a short list ready to hopefully pull from. He has been really into the name Aurelia for most of my pregnancy; initially I wasn't sure about it but it has started to grow on me. What're you're thoughts on Aurelia Elise? The middle name is non-negotiable. Also, Re or Ray for a nickname? Rel is off-limits (my step sister has that last name) and there aren't many other nicknames I like for Aurelia.

I like Aurelia, you could also go Lia/Leah as a nickname :) I also like Thora and Margot, I think they're really pretty.

Thank you! My mom seems less than thrilled about Thora and Margot, but I'm trying to ignore that response because I still love them and am hoping my husband might think our daughter looks like a Thora or Margot when she arrives. But it wouldn't kill me to use Aurelia either, I just don't want her to be nameless for two weeks while we decide!

Yeah that was one of my concerns, it's very vowel-y. Granted, she won't be using her full name THAT often, but still.

I like Aurelia Elise but I do not like Re/Ray as a nickname. I do like Ellie/Elle or Aura, though. I think the reason why Aurelia Elise may sound off is because of the eli at the end of Aurelia and the beginning of Elise. I like it, though.

I like the other names on your list, especially Thora. Tovah is pretty, but it almost makes me think someone spelled Torah wrong.

It is very...vowel-y. That isn't a word really, but you know what I mean. It sounds jumbled when you say it. That said, I love Aurelia, and I love both names together, and 98% of the time people will be saying Aurelia Lastname, not Aurelia Elise.

For nicknames I like Auri, or Aura, Rory, or even Ari. And Elia, Ellie, Ells, Lia...it has so many nickname possibilities! Congrats! :)

Aurelia has been a favorite name of mine for years. I just simply adore it. I do find Aurelia Elise a little difficult to say, but you also won't be calling her by her first and middle name that often...
