Maggie vs. Molly?

I think I've narrowed down my girl's name to a final two choices: either Molly Gwendoline or Maggie Gwendoline. Which do you prefer? If she were to be born around Christmas I might opt for Holly.

If it matters, I'm pretty sure my boy's name is Oliver Henry (though I really like Charlie also- it's so hard to decide!)

TY!

I love Maggie. :)

I see both Molly and Maggie as nicknames. I would prefer to see the baby named Mary Gwendoline or Margaret Gwendoline and then called either Molly or Maggie as a nickname. I much prefer Margaret to Mary. i like both Molly and Maggie the same.

I think either is lovely, but I have a soft spot for Molly. I think it's a sweet name.

Maggie makes me think of the Simpsons. It also really feels like a nickname to me. Molly stands on its own better. Holly is also very cute, I've considered it before but not around any certain time of the year, I think it'd be better not around Christmas.

I totally agree that Molly stands on its own a lot better than Maggie.

I prefer Molly Gwendoline over Maggie as a full name. But if Maggie were short for Margaret or Magnolia--or something--I'd prefer that since I love the nn Maggie and adore both of those names (my cat is Magnolia and we call her Maggie). I just feel like Maggie is a nickname.

I see potential for Molly and Olly if you go that route...

I vote Molly, mostly because I can only take Maggie seriously if it is a nickname for something else. (Margaret, maybe?) Molly is a full name that sounds like a nickname as opposed to a nickname that sounds like a nickname.
And Molly Gwendoline sounds nice!

Love your boy's choice, BTW.

I like the sound of Molly Gwendoline better than Maggie Gwendoline. The "G" sounds in the latter are too close together for my taste. I do like both first names, however, and think your little girl would wear either one well.

I like Molly better, but it doesn't sound quite right with Gwendoline(which I love), IMO. I do like [livejournal.com profile] jeweledvixen's idea of Margaret Gwendoline, but I like Meg or Meggie as a nn. I just don't like Maggie very much.

My mom is Mollie, so I prefer it.

I prefer Molly. Maggie has just never sounded pretty to me, at all.

I feel bad because I think both of those names sound like dog names, lol. Sorry! I like the name Maggie better but Molly probably sounds better with Gwendoline.

Molly! Such a sweet name. My daughter is Molly.

Molly I think works as a full name but Maggie to me is a nickname. I like Molly Gwendolyn better either way. Molly is cute but it will also work an adult woman.
