Blog baby.
Nov. 5th, 2013 09:42 amI was reading an article that referenced a blog post entitled, "The Freebirth of Apple Blossom Light Hawk Summer Willow Wind." Needless to say I had to follow the link to see if I was being punk'd. No it's not a joke. that's the kid's name. They call her "Peacy" for short.
I have no words. Only laughter.

Date: 2013-11-05 06:57 pm (UTC)Is Peacy supposed to be like peachy or PC? Can't quite tell and it's bothering me.
Hope this woman realises how truly fortunate her and the baby are. There are still women in the world who give birth in those circumstances; not through some crazy white priviledge hippy thing, but because they have choice at all. And it's no coincidence in such places the mortality rate, for infants and pregnant women, is so high.
There has to be a middle way, I mean come on even in Little Women era they at least had midwives.
Kind of hope the kid grows up to become an accountant and changes her name to Jane.

Date: 2013-11-05 10:24 pm (UTC)Yes Summer is clearly the most normal name of the lot, and I quite like it (prefer Autumn but still).

Date: 2013-11-06 12:30 am (UTC)If I were Peacy(WTH?), I would choose Summer or Willow and leave it at that. On the bright side, maybe she won't be bullied, since I see homeschooling in her future.

Date: 2013-11-08 04:22 am (UTC)"Peacy’s name took a long time to come. At first I called her little-one, and that was perfect. We called her squirmo, and pea-belly, and squirmo-pea-belly, and all sorts of other names for fun.
Before Peacy’s birth, Joey had told me of a Native American tradition where children’s names were constantly in motion – constantly changing based on their phase of life and their spirit. I tried this out with Peacy, but it didn’t feel right; I wanted her to have a name of her own. It felt like something she was entitled to, something sacred. I thought about it for a long time. I over-thought it. I came up with a name, Lynnea, and I shared it with Joey. He didn’t like it. He asked me why I had chosen it. I told him it reminded me of the forsythia – the first vibrant blossom of the spring.
“What about ‘Spring Blossom,’” he said.
I fell in love with this – I had never even considered a name so beautiful. Over the next few months, her name evolved. It became like a poem. It came to embody her soft, radiant beauty, her fiery spirit, and her deeply passionate soul. We gave her a nickname too, “Peacy,” because who can say “Apple Blossom Light Hawk Summer Willow Wind, come get your dinner!”?"
