Everyone's talking about literary names, so I might as well join in.

I am strongly considering, if baby be a boy, naming him Dorian. Yes, like Dorian Grey. And yes, it is my favorite book of all time. Love it, hate it, too old-fashioned?

Nah.. reminds me of the old hag in 'Birds of a Feather'..not for a girl and especially NOT for a boy.

I really like it. Not too old-fashioned I don't think. Definitely better than the super trendy names going around.

And I don't think it's too strong of a connection- like Atticus or Holden for example.

LOVE it. I love softer sounding boys names like that. Adrian and Julian are two of my other favorites.

I hope you meant that you're considering that spelling for a girl... the -enne ending is ultra feminine. Adrian or Adrien should be fine for a boy.

I agree. Adrienne IS the female spelling, Adrian or Adrien are the male. It's like Aaron and Erin. I can't imagine them reversed.

please don't make me cry. that is MY name. it's bad enough everyone spells it the male name for me, but that's at least on accident. on the plus side, maybe they'll all accidentally spell it the male way for your son, too.

p.s. I like the name Dorian but my last name is Doherty so it's not even in the running.

As long as your last name isn't Gray, it is an excellent choice. I love Dorian.

Any reference to Oscar Wilde is tops in my book.
Love it!

I love Oscar Wilde, and I enjoyed that book tremendously. However, Dorian Gray is not very likeable in the novel, and though I like the name, the fact that he's, well, kid of evil, would hold me back.

I've always loved that name. I've never read the book, though.

I know someone who has a son named Dorian Leif, he's about twelve I think. Apparently he loves his name and wears it well.
It's not a name I'd personally consider (am partial to Darien though), but can appreciate it on someone else.

Oh and Ian would be a neat nickname.

Despite the fact that Dorian Grey is sort of a horrible person, I like the name.

a friend who's having twins has pegged that name for the boy. it's grown on me. but i keep thinking of evil dorian from the movie 'the mask'.

My tutor at school was called Dorian, I always thought it was really funny, i think of it as a female name.
