I have liked Gregory on and off for years, but I have recently fallen in love with it. I figured it would have to get a middle name slot if it was ever used because I really don't like the nickname Greg. Well, today, I saw a poll on BtN that was all about unusual nicknames, and one of them was Rory for Gregory.

WDYT? Could Rory work for Gregory? I'm really kind of liking it, myself!

I like it a lot :) I love when unusual nicknames are attached to names- for example, I used to work with someone who went by Mandy, for months I assumed her name was Amanda, turned out it was actually Madeleine.

I think it works and is cute! I think people may automatically go to Greg though since it is so instant of an association. You might have to remind people often that it's Rory not Greg!

I definitely think Rory works as a nickname. I don't think you'd have much of a problem with people calling him Greg since you/he would likely introduce/refer to him(self) as Rory or Gregory.
