Just watching the game and realized that some of the spellings are a little odd. Mostly not that bad though.

15 Dan Haren
37 Stephen Strasburg
27 Jordan Zimmermann
58 Fernando Abad
36 Tyler Clippard
46 Ian Krol
59 Tanner Roark // Just bolding because is this a common first name? I always saw this as last only. But then maybe my childhood show Full House is the reason for that. Haha.
35 Craig Stammen
22 Drew Storen
29 Rafael Soriano
40 Wilson Ramos
24 Kurt Suzuki
20 Ian Desmond
25 Adam LaRoche
 1 Steve Lombardozzi, Jr.
 6 Anthony Rendon
18 Chad Tracy
11 Ryan Zimmerman
33 Roger Bernadina
 7 Scott Hairston
34 Bryce Harper // Y.
12 Tyler Moore
 2 Denard Span
28 Jayson Werth // Y.
64 Xavier Cedeño
51 Erik Davis
38 Taylor Jordan
57 Nate Karns
52 Ryan Mattheus
43 Ross Ohlendorf
50 Matt Purke
-- Tyler Robertson

23 Jhonatan Solano // What?
 8 Danny Espinosa
26 Jeff Kobernus

3 Eury Pérez // Interesting, never heard it before(other than on this team).

I bolded the ones that raised an eyebrow. Werth and Harper are my favorite players but WHY THE Y!? lol.

Tyler Moore makes me think of Mary Tyler Moore. I actually known an Erik Davis; I didn't know there was a baseball player by the same name, but then, I guess it isn't too uncommon of a name. I read Matt Purke as Matt Puke at first. :\

I run into tons of little Tanners at my work, so yes, it is a growing surname-as-first name. And I'm a former Full House addict as well. Bryce is actually a pretty common spelling. More common than Brice now (and I actually prefer the "y" version for some reason). Jayson always makes me want to elongate the first syllable: JAAAAAAAYYYYY-son.

Is it weird that I think Ian Desmond is a beautiful name? I may be biased because I kept staring when they put his picture on the Jumbotron last year at Game 2 of the NLDS.

Between Jhonny Peralta and seeing the name Jhon somewhere, I began to wonder if the spelling is ethnic of some sort. I checked up where Jhonatan Solano was born. According to mlb.com, he was born in Columbia; so maybe the spelling/name is ethnic/cultural?
