Me... again. I've been playing around with a few more names and wanted some opinions :)

As stated previously I really like George but my family don't. One comment was "it really doesn't suit a baby/little boy at all" and the more I think about it the more I'm wonderinf if they're right?

I'd kind of picked out two other possible names: Jack William and Oliver Daniel.

Now I'm wondering if since I like George so much I could use it as a middle name with a 2 syllable + first name?
Some ideas I have are Oliver George, Thomas George, Archie George, Alfie George and Toby George.

I also really like the nicknames as names for boys but not sure if this works through life? I like Charlie, Sam, Archie, Alfie, Max and Toby. But then I'm not sure if it's something you should really name your pet rather than your child!

Anyway my boy's long list right now is:
George Callum, George Daniel
Jack William
Oliver Daniel, Oliver George
Charlie Oliver, Charlie George
Thomas Jack, Thomas William, Thomas Flynn, Thomas Archer, Thomas George (side note: I have a cousin named Thomas so not sure if this would work though he sometimes goes by Tommy.)
Sam Hunter, Sam Archer (I can't use Samuel due to bad associations)
Archie George, Archie Thomas
Alfie Joseph, Alfie George
Max Ezra, Max Elijah
Toby Joshua, Toby George

I have gotten a lot of positive comments about Eleanor (on here and from my family.) I can definitely see my little girl being called Eleanor and it has a lot of really cute nicknames (Ellie, Ella, Nori etc.) I like Eleanor with Kate, Quinn (family name,) Marissa or Jasmine.
I also quite like Poppy Hannah

But I also have two other names I really love: Amelia and Abigail. What are your thoughts on Amelia Georgia, Amelia Quinn or Abigail Poppy (Abi?)

Boy Favs: George Daniel, Oliver Daniel, Charlie Oliver, Thomas Archer
Girl Fav: Eleanor Quinn
These are my favs because they just roll off my tongue and sound fantastic. I really like your choice of names.

George is a strong boy name. I sometimes call my son Curious George(his name is actually Ben), just because he gets into everything. I also like Max, but its my friend's dog's name and its hard to move past that name association for me.

I think since Kate and William named their kid George it will become popular.

I like:
Oliver George
Thomas William
Amelia Quinn

I love the name Eleanor. Eleanor Kateis is adorable. It was my back up girl name.

My BIL's name is George, but everyone calls him Geordie. You could always use a nickname until they are older

Anyway my boy's long list right now is:
George Callum, George Daniel - I prefer George Daniel
Jack William - This is great
Oliver Daniel, Oliver George - I love either one. I love Oliver
Charlie Oliver, Charlie George - I would prefer Charles and then use Charlie as a nickname. I prefer Charles Oliver, but Charles George is fine.
Thomas Jack, Thomas William, Thomas Flynn, Thomas Archer, Thomas George - I love Thomas, but not with any of these middle names. If you have a cousin with this name, I might be inclined to leave it for him to use if he wants to.
Sam Hunter, Sam Archer (I can't use Samuel due to bad associations) - I'd skip Sam altogether since I don't like nicknames as first names.
Archie George, Archie Thomas - I'm not fond of Archie or Archibald.
Alfie Joseph, Alfie George - I don't care for Alfie, either.
Max Ezra, Max Elijah - Maxwell Elijah sounds great. Neither Max or Maxwell Ezra sound good together.
Toby Joshua, Toby George - I prefer Toby George.

Eleanor - I love Eleanor
Eleanor with Kate, Quinn (family name,) Marissa or Jasmine - I love Eleanor Kate and Eleanor Quinn. I don't think Marissa or Jasmine go with Eleanor.
I also quite like Poppy Hannah - I like Poppy and Hannah, but not together. Poppy Marissa or Hannah Quinn sound good.

But I also have two other names I really love: Amelia and Abigail. What are your thoughts on Amelia Georgia, Amelia Quinn or Abigail Poppy (Abi?) - I love both Amelia and Abigail. I don't like the a sound at the end of both Amelia and Georgia. I like Abigail Quinn. Eleanor Amelia would be pretty. Abigail Kate is good, too. So is Abigail Marissa.

We are planning on Thomas if out next child is a boy so I am partial to that. I am not a fan of George but as a middle name I think Thomas George sounds best. I also like Jack William.

I LOVE Eleanor so much but the husband doesn't. Eleanor Kate is gorgeous IMO.

I'm afraid my overall opinion of the boys' names is fairly negative. A lot of this has to do with my not liking nicknames as given names, although there are a few out there that work better than others, like Jack. You mentioned not being sure if nicknames-as-names would work throughout life, and I generally think they don't.

George Callum, George Daniel - I quite like George Callum. Callum is one of my favorite names. I think George will rise in popularity (even in the US) since William and Kate used it.
Jack William - This is okay.
Oliver Daniel, Oliver George - Both of these are okay as well.
Charlie Oliver, Charlie George - I prefer Charlie Oliver over Charlie George, but really, I'm not a fan of nicknames as given names.
Thomas Jack, Thomas William, Thomas Flynn, Thomas Archer, Thomas George - I would maybe skip Thomas because you have a cousin by that name.
Sam Hunter, Sam Archer - I like Sam Archer the best, but again, I would prefer to see a full name. Have you considered Sampson? Sampson Oliver, Sampson Thomas, and Sampson George make nice combinations.
Archie George, Archie Thomas - Of these Archie Thomas sounds best. The "ch" and "G" sound are too close in Archie George. While I think it could work on a boy, I have a hard time picturing it on a young man. My first thought is Archie Bunker from All in the Family, and I never even watched the show.
Alfie Joseph, Alfie George - I couldn't imagine a grown man whose given name is Alfie. I know they're out there, but it's still really weird to picture. The nickname just sounds so juvenile to me.
Max Ezra, Max Elijah - Max Ezra is too short and choppy, so Max Elijah wins here, but I really don't care for either.
Toby Joshua, Toby George - I don't like Toby with either of these. What about Tobias George, Tobiah George, or Tobin Joshua?

Eleanor Kate is hands down my favorite of your girl options. I really don't think Marissa or Jasmine go all that well with it stylistically. Quinn still sounds masculine to me and way too modern for a girl next to Eleanor. I understand that it is a family name though. Out of curiosity, is it a surname or a given name? I would use it on boy myself, but that's just me.

I don't like Poppy Hannah, although Hannah is nice. What about Abigail Hannah?

I don't like flow of Amelia Georgia. I think Abigail Georgia is much better. Abigail Poppy sounds good, and I don't even like either name! There's nothing wrong with the names; they just aren't ones for which I personally care. I would use Abby as a nickname. Abi looks weird and incomplete. I'm pretty sure Abby is the norm.

But, George grows up. He's not a baby for more than 1 year, a toddler for 2 or 3 years, a child for 6 years, a preteen for 3 years, a teenager for 4 years, then he's an adult for the rest of his life. Why can't you use the name you love, with a strong solid background? Charlie, Alfie, Archie... those don't seem to be strong enough. They're measly nicknames for Charles, Alford, Archibald, etc... You can't use Samuel because of bad associations, but you can use Sam, a nickname for Samuel? If you love George, why can you not use it as a first name? Family members will learn to love his name the moment they can put his face with his name.

I dislike George as a name, but I disagree with your family's reasoning for it. He's only going to be a baby/little boy for such a short period of time. I think a lot of parents forget that when naming their child who will grow into an adult and spend the rest of their lives that way. So while George might sound a little off on a 6 month old, is it going to sound so strange when he's 30 or 40 or 50? Probably not. Plus, I think with the royal baby being named George, there could be an increase in little baby Georges.

I'm not a fan of nicknames as given names. If you name him Charlie, for example, he really can only go by Charlie. If you name him Charles, he has the option of Charlie or Chaz or Chuck, you know?

I like Eleanor a lot! But I'm not a fan of it with any of those names. :\ How about Eleanor Amelia?

I LOVE Amelia. Amelia Georgia is too much of the -uh sound at the end. I kind of like Amelia Quinn. I like the old-fashioned + modern combination.

I love George, and think it's adorable on babies. I love Eleanor, but would never go for Nori as a nn. They are both the most popular names in the universe right now, though, ya know???

Your child will only be a baby for 2-3 years, and a child for about 11-13. After that, he'll be a teenager, and very quickly an adult. In fact, he'll spend most of his life as an adult. I don't think we should be selecting names for how they sound on children, because our children won't be children for long.

I like George. I think you can call him Georgie until he's older, if you're really worried. But there's a whole generation of Georges who had to be 2 and 5 and 11 before they got to their 50s and 60s.

I really really like Oliver Daniel! I also like Oliver George and Jack William.

I like Poppy and Hannah but not together - maybe Hannah Poppy, but not Poppy Hannah. Amelia Georgia has too many similar sounds at the end - I do like Amelia Poppy and Abigail Poppy. I like Eleanor Quinn and Eleanor Kate.
