[identity profile] how-obscure.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
I'm babysitting this summer and was looking for some activity ideas. I stumbled across a site where members (from the San Antonio, Texas area) submit ideas, and most of them included their children's names and ages, although I left the ages off. The submissions are from as far back as 2009, so the ages would have required some math for trend tracking and whatnot. Most of these kids were under 5 at time of posting, but there were some between 6 and 10, and a couple of random older ones.

I read Brizeida as "Bridezilla" the first time through the list

A lot of them are NMS, but there's some nice sibsets here (and a couple of odd ones too)

Yep, me too! Bridezilla. I had to look at it twice because I couldn't believe somebody would actually name their child that!

There are some that are just like, "What?!" but others are really awesome. Like, there are some really good sibsets (Maya, Rachel, and Leah; Lilliana, Christopher, and Austin; Travis and Alison; Christina and Joshua; Ryan and Rebecca; Natalie and Danielle; William and Andrew...), and I'm particularly drawn to Cinthia, Alliana and Cassandra for some reason. Cynthia and Cassandra are two of my favourite names, and the Cinthia spelling doesn't bother me as much as I feel it should.

Sorry, but the one that grabbed me on this list was Vesuvius.

What. the. hell? (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mount_Vesuvius)

Really? Vesuvius?? Seriously? Please tell me his middle name is Tsunami or Nor'Easter or something. Why do people do that to their kids?

And I'm sorry, but I really hate the zeitgeist of modern baby names. Kaden, Kaleb, Kendall, Greyson, Adalyn, Branson, et. al. Yuck. They just sound boringly trendy and awful. I hate the K trend, I hate the ---aden trend, the ---lyn trend. Kix also stands out as exceptionally bad!

From that list I like Cassandra, Benjamin, and Daphne.
