The husband and I cannot agree on any!

He has picked 4:
Corbynn (this was what we would have named our son had he been a girl. I am way over it)
Felicia -way dated and my grandmother's cats name.
Willow- honestly I love it but we both agree it has become too popular for our tastes.
Quinn- Daria's little sister!

Names I have suggested:
Grier
Aine
Mirin or Merrin
Genevieve
Delaney
Larkin
Roslyn
Teagan
Bronwen
Tierney
Amalia
Amalthea

Names I like but would never use
Janneth
Lethe
Ophelia (looks pretty, sounds like ill feel ya)
Rue (thank you hunger games followers for ruining this for me)

"Common" names I like but wont use
Emily
Lisbeth
Matilda

Names neither of us love but we like enough
Reese
Cameron
Dierdre

Our guilty pleasure name but we know other people would give us/her flack for it:

Seth/Sethe

Help! Suggestions? Your thoughts? A sledgehammer?

Corbynn - Corbin belongs on boys, in my opinion. I don't like it on girls, and it's worse because it's spelled weird.
Felicia - I think of Felicia Day from Doctor Horrible's Sing-Along Blog, which I love. That said, I don't actually care for the name.
Willow- What's your cut-off point for rankings? Willow is ranked 171 by the SSA. To me, that's not too terribly high, but then, your opinion may vary and popularity isn't always the same in every area. Personally, I like Willow. It's on my list, although it's not a top contender anymore.
Quinn- Again, it's a boys' name.

Names I have suggested:
Grier - There's something about this name that I like, but then, I don't quite like it either.
Aine - Is this like Anya?
Mirin or Merrin - I don't like it.
Genevieve - I LOVE it.
Delaney - I like it better for boys.
Larkin - I really like this name.
Roslyn - I really don't like this name, especially the spelling.
Teagan - It's okay. It makes me think of Tegan and Sara.
Bronwen - I think this is a really nice name.
Tierney - Another boys' name. It used to be on my list.
Amalia - It reminds me of Somalia.
Amalthea - I've never heard of this one. I don't like it.

Names I like but would never use
Janneth - Nope.
Lethe - Leh-tuh?
Ophelia - I always want to like this name because it does look pretty, but as you say, it does sound a bit like "I'll feel ya."
Rue - I think this name is cute.

"Common" names I like but wont use
Emily - Eh, I've never really been a huge fan.
Lisbeth - I don't like it; however, I think Elizabeth is lovely.
Matilda - I think I would like this better if it weren't for the movie.

Up and coming name lists can be hit or miss, but I can understand your hesitance, especially since you've seen it on more than one and had the experience you did with your son's name.

If I had to pick a version of Roslyn, it would probably be Rosalind, which I guess I say slightly differently as well. Roz makes me think of the lady from the 1-800-ASK-GARY commercials. I don't know if that's a local or national thing...

I've only ever heard of Corbin as masculine, but that doesn't mean people aren't using it on girls, especially with the altered spelling. Quinn and Tierney I know I have seen as unisex or sometimes even just feminine, but they were both traditionally male names as far as I know. I know I saw Delaney listed as unisex on one site in particular, and as it is a surname, I assumed it was traditionally male as well, so I was surprised when I checked BtN and I found that they listed it as feminine. I can see where people think those names sound feminine, I just generally don't like when names switch gender myself. Of course, this is your child; I'm not trying to argue or anything, just having a dialogue about what I have seen and feel personally. :)

Lee-thuh makes me think a bit of "lethal." That said, the pronunciation I guessed made me think of "letter," so... I wonder, have you considered Aletha or Alethea? Either of those could use Lethe as a nickname.

Sorry you had to drop a name you both agreed on. Maybe you can use Ophelia as a middle name?

Gertrude
Bronte
Juniper
Felicity

Corbynn is terrible. Corbin is ok for a boy.
Felicia - I love it.
Willow - I love it, but it is too popular right now.
Quinn - I don't know who Daria is, but I like Quinn.

Names I like:

Genevieve
Roslyn
Teagan
Bronwen
Tierney
Amalia (although I prefer Amelia)
Reese
Dierdre

Seth/Sethe - This is terrible for a girl. Seth is ok for a boy.

UGH! I wouldn't name my baby Quinn either if that's what comes to your mind. Beavis and Butthead was horrible and I never watched a whole episode.

I would be interested to know the history of Sethe and where it came from, other than it's the female version of Seth. I checked the link and there was very little information there.

I have a Genevieve Madeleine.

If the twins had been two girls, the other would have been Imogen Dawn.

I prefer Greer to Grier. Do you like Briar? Bronwyn?

I love Willow and Quinn. Sethe is super cute for a girl too, but I like "boy" names on girls. My sister once said she liked the name Sloane for a girl, and I think it's adorable! Reggie. Kinley. Good luck!!

FWIW, Rue was a lovely character from Hunger Games. I'm a youth librarian so I'm admittedly a bit biased, but I don't see a reason why a name in a well-liked YA book should prevent you from using it! She wasn't even one of the main players like Katniss or Peeta.

Out of the names listed, I like Roslyn and Ophelia best. For suggestions, maybe: Imogen, Violet, Maeve, Seren, Lael, Sloane, Rowan, Ceylon, Sinclair, India, Auden, Gillian, Hollis, Linden, Audra, Ellis/Elliot, Briony, or Rory?

I'm also not sure how the fans ruined; I definitely haven't heard of a sudden uptick in the name Rue.

Nameberry doesn't do any kind of actual scientific analysis of naming patterns. They name their most "popular" names by page view counts. But people use name websites for all kinds of reasons, including to look up names for fictional characters and just because a name is interesting. In fact, I've clicked on a Nameberry name that was advertised as a top name just to see what it meant, even though I had no intention of using it. People might have been looking at the names simply because they heard it in the book/movie/news and wanted to know what it meant.

The Social Security Administration in the U.S. keeps track of popular baby names since the late 1800s, and Rue was not on the popular names list for 2012 (or any of the last 133 years). I don't know if there's an equivalent database in the UK.

When I was pregnant with my first, I had a dream that we named her Ophelia with the nickname Phelix. LOL.

I like your taste in names. I don't think Seth/Sethe is bad for a girl. I know a good amount of girls with "boys" names, and none of them were tortured or turned out to be weirdos :)

I like Genevieve and Amalia. Amalthea was often a goat in Greek mythology, so although the name is pretty I'm not sure I would go to it. Tierney is kind of cute.

I really do not like Corbynn. I don't like the name and I especially don't like the spelling.

I would never get "I'll feel ya" from Ophelia. I had to stretch to even make it sound like that.

I think it's actually spelled Deirdre. Deirdre is also the name of a tragic character from Irish legend.

Sethe is literary, from Beloved I think. I didn't read the book or see the movie, but I think Sethe had a rough time of it. Still, I think the name is attractive and unique.

I say Oh Feel Ee Ah. So the first sound (I'll vs. Oh) is a huge difference with my accent, and the last two syllables sound quite different. I think it depends on your accent and regional dialect.
