[identity profile] gemmagic.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have apparently named their daughter Kaidence Donda West. I've seen this reported in a few places but I'm not sure if they have officially confirmed it. WDYT? I don't like the KKK initials myself, and I love the name Cadence but hate the unique spelling.

Also, I'm a bit of a Johnny come lately, but I had been curious as to what singer Adele named her baby boy. I looked it up just now and it was revealed in January that she named him Angelo James Konecki. She also gave her child the same initial as herself! WDYT?

I don't think it's a big deal if parents name their kids a name that starts with the same letter as one or both parents. It gets annoying if it is repeated through multiple children though. If I were, for example to marry a man named Adam, my kids would be named (if he had no say) Ada and August. This has nothing to do with my name being Alyssa, it is simply the fact that I love those names (I actually love a lot of A names, so it's likely my kids will have A names).

I kinda like Cadence but not spelled like Kaidence.

Cadence is nice, not spelled that way. I want to say it K-EYE as in the thing you see with Kai XD

Not confirmed.

Most likely it's also klementine based on the two of them registering two domain names for website under klementinedondawest

True, but neither are confirmed so I was waiting to post them here until they announced it. Looks like it'll be on Kris' talk show.

Which seems more appropriate for this couple. Right? Cadence seems too normal...

Clementine is an actual, old-fashioned name, Cadence is a word that has been turned into a name in the last few years. Clementine is not a favorite of mine by any means, but I still like it better than (K)Cadence.

That URL kind of looks like klementine doin tha west, urgh.

I'm not against multiple children with the same first letter, but I can stand k names that are supposed to be c names. It's not unique, it's wrong.

Haha, this is what I thought too! Also, if it is true, two giant egomaniacs giving their kid the middle name Star? Of course they did.

Is that what Donda means? Its his late mothers name

Nope! I meant there are other name blogs reporting that they named the baby Klementine Star. And in my mind personal family name > the name Star, especially for a celebri-baby.

I do not like Kadence/Cadence/however you spell it. The three of them starting with K names doesn't bother me though.

The initials thing is something my partner's family does. It started with him - his dad wanted him to be a jr but his mom said no, so he was given the same initials as his dad. Then when he had kids with his ex, one kid has the mom's initials and one has his initials. When we have a kid, he wants to follow that same trend but I'm not terribly keen on it. So I guess we'll see what happens. I don't hate it on principle, when other people do it. I just don't feel any personal attachment to my initials and would rather use a family name from my parents or grandparents or ancestors or something. Also, I'm not sure if we would have one kid or two and if we have two, what initials does the 2nd kid get since there will be one kid with his initials and one with mine already? And I haven't decided what to do with my last name or the child's last name for that matter, so perhaps we wouldn't have the same last initial anyway.

Also, it doesn't start with a K apparently: http://ohnotheydidnt.livejournal.com/78881111.html

I read they were going with Klementine Star West? Either way, I think both Klementine and Kaidence are totally trashy. And I hate the KKK initials. Ugh. But at least Donda would be a better middle name than Star.

Could be much more worse than we realize. TMZ claims they named the kid North. North West. I hope to high heaven that story is false.

OMG. Seconded. North West is a terrible name for a child.

I'm tempted to pronounce Kaidence as "Keye-dence" instead of "Kay-dence", even though I'm sure that's not the intent.

Angelo James is actually kind of nice, even though Angelo isn't my style.
