You-nique Your Name
Jun. 11th, 2013 11:21 amI made a joke on FB a few days ago about ridiculous spellings of regular names and decided to try it out on my own. Here's what I came up with:
My actual spelling: Catherine
"Unique" spelling: Khaetharyghnn
Obviously it's a little more goofy and over the top than I think (hope!) most people trying to make the name "special" would go but that was the point.
I thought it would be fun to share and see what other people come up with for their own names, too. :)
Also, on a somewhat separate note - what are your thoughts on Jaxson?
I've seen two babies in the last couple months named this and as much as I like the name itself -it kind of drives me nuts with the X and S.

Date: 2013-06-11 03:43 pm (UTC)Jaxson is terrible. Jackson is great, though.

Date: 2013-06-11 03:45 pm (UTC)My name already has a billion variation spellings, but you could get crazy with Staysi or something.

Date: 2013-06-11 04:10 pm (UTC)My you-nique name could be spelled: Pseelvee (I guess) but people have a hard time enough spelling it correctly! I've had lots of Slyvie, Silvie, and Silvye. I much prefer Sylvie :)

Date: 2013-06-11 05:34 pm (UTC)I know that in at least one case that I mentioned above, they spelled it Jaxson bc they want his nn to be Jax and not Jack and they thought this would help?

Date: 2013-06-11 04:36 pm (UTC)I was going to make a post about Jaxon the other day but figured it wasn't worthy of a whole entry haha. I hate it. Just hate it.

I don't like Jaxson at all, at all. A friend of mine named one of her sons Jackson, though, and I like that.

Date: 2013-06-11 06:49 pm (UTC)I'm not a fan of Jaxson on a baby. Before the baby trend, my cousin named her dog Jaxson, but her lastname starts with Jack-, so it kinda fits well for her dog. Keyword: Dog. I feel this would also be a good name for a cat or even a bird. I hate the "x" trend.

Date: 2013-06-11 09:12 pm (UTC)And Jaxon is my guilty pleasure name. I like it but think it's awful at the same time, and would never use it...but I still kinda love it. Without the S though.

Date: 2013-06-12 11:46 pm (UTC)Kre8iv name: L'awrah K8lynn
...I'm ashamed to say that I early high school, when I was "one of the Lauras," I seriously considered spelling it L'aura or Laurah or Laurra or Laure. 14-year-olds should be prohibited from any kind of decision-making.

Date: 2013-06-13 01:00 am (UTC)Also Jackson in any way shape or form it is probably one of my most hated names right now after Isabella/Bella and Abigail. About seven years ago I met a wonderful little girl named Jaxon. It was cute, it was unique and it suited the spunky personality that the whole family shared. I really liked it. It's been down hill since there. Since it started popping up everywhere I've grown to loathe it more and more. I even dislike the original because now a child with a regular name will have to be asked how it is spelled. And the variations. Jaxxon, there's not need for double x. Jaxson looks bloody unbalanced. No thank you!

Date: 2013-06-13 04:59 am (UTC)If I'm being honest, I really hate Jaxson. I have a hard enough time with Jackson because it feels like it is everywhere lately. And I've had at least two coworkers go the "x" route (one has a Jaxon, the other a Jaxxson--ugh!) and it just looks trashy, IMO. Both specifically mentioned using that spelling so they could use "Jax" as a nickname.
I'm really not a fan of the X trend in general, unless the name in Xanthe. :)

Date: 2013-06-22 10:02 pm (UTC)I don't like Jaxson. I don't like the name Jackson as a first name anyway, and Jaxson just makes it more irritating.
