My husband and I have been thinking about the girl's name Cosette (we are going to TTC in the winter).   Any good MN to go with it?

I like literary  first names, and I really liked Candide,  until I found out Candida was the latin name for a yeast infection...

eta: what do you think of the name Cosette itself?

Yeah, I am going to have to say that Candide is a pretty bad idea. Especially having just finished a Microbiology course (lol!).

Cosette Lydie
Cosette Manon
Cosette Alaina

I guess I'm the only one who doesn't like it much. It's super-cutesy, in my opinion. Cosette's real name in Les Miserables is Euphemie, which I actually like a lot better (especially as Euphemia).

I agree with the "too Les Miserables." It'd be like naming a kid Eponine or Javert. Of course, when I was fourteen I wanted to name a kid Matthew Valjean... but that was when I was fourteen.

Haha, I think you might be right. But mostly because he'd get called "en-JOEL-rass" a lot, I think.

Unless I'm not remembering right, I thought Cosette told Marius her name was Euphemie because she didn't like her name and thought Euphemie was a lot prettier and sophisticated-sounding than Cosette? Then she asked what he prefered, and he said he liked Cosette better.

But I could be wrong. Haven't read the book in ages.

Just for the record, most Christians are fine with or even prefer Hebrew and biblical names, considering both religions share much of the same history. But I understand why you put it there, heh. It's so hard not offend people these days.

I think Cosette is a pretty name, but it's something I associate with a certain type of person. I associate it with the character and how she looks and acts more than it just being a name for anyone.

I like these combos:

Cosette Annabelle (or Annabella)
Cosette Arden
Cosette Rosalind
Cosette Rose
Cosette Adelaide
Cosette Anais
Cosette Elisabeth
Cosette Renee
