[identity profile] earn-my-wings.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames

Searched the hashtag #babynames and found these winners (some are just "ideas" and not actual babies...yet.):

Cerys Aoife (the only cool one on this list)
Taylee Diane
Carmen Le-Anna
Nigella
Sterling
Courtlee Paige and Daylon Curt (a teenager's top choices for her future kid, ugh...)
Kendell (girl)
Konner
Chavez (because THAT has a great association...)
Raygan
Lundin
Cinsley Paige
Kason Eli
Orien Mychal
Bailee Surinthay
Alethea
Preslee Shae

And the grand finale:
Bundy-Lee Danger

Because it's not like the name "Bundy-Lee Danger" has serial killer associations, or anything like that...

I do like Sterling.

I was wondering what was wrong with this one.

I first read Raygan as Ray gun.

For some reason, seeing the old-fashioned Gaelic spelling of Aoife makes me gleeful. It's pronounced Ee-fa, btw.

I don't like anything else in that list, though. :(

Siobhan, I might use as a middle name, but I couldn't do it as a first. If only because I KNOW that everyone and their uncle would look at it and say "See-o-BAN" and just ugh no.

Aoife... I like Eva too, and that's much harder to butcher. Again, Gaelic spelling for a middle name, but I couldn't do it as a first. :)

I have considered naming a future kid of either gender Kendall, spelled properly--it would be after my grandfather--but the rest of the list?

Wow. Just...wow. I like 'Aoife' and other Gaelic names, but I'd hesitate to saddle a kid with them because the names would just get butchered constantly (I know a little girl named Roisin and the difficulty people have with her name is kind of incredible).

Ro-sheen is how I've always heard it said; no idea if that's correct or not.

Nigella is the chef Lawson and none other to me. It's like Oprah.

Chavez... I have to say that I'm so sick of white bread surname names (just met another Hudson at the playground today) that I almost want to root for any surname name that ISN'T painfully anglosaxon.

Why can't people spell?! Half those names would be acceptable if they were spelt correctly.

I would probably only use Alethea of those. Aoife is also lovely but it probably fits the husband's nonono list, which is mostly Irish names he gets rude about the English being able to spell/pronounce ;)

The yu-neek spellings hurt my eyes.

i would use Kendall for my daughter. i like Regan, Bailey & Presley but, you know, spelled normally.

but Bundy-Lee Danger? that's an all time low. that kid is destined to grow up and kill someone. probably his parents. for naming him that.

Raygan looks like ray gun to me.

Konner and Preslee are awful :/ Carmen and Aoife are the only ones I like. I like Orion, just take away the E :p
