I know a girl (I believe she was born in China) whose name is Leili with that pronunciation. Add to that all of the Leila spellings and Laylee didn't strike me as very odd at all.

For some reason, the fact that she's from China and spells it Leili makes it all better, haha. To me, Laylee is just trying too hard to be trendy but "youneek" at the same time
