My husband and I are expecting our second child, another girl, at the end of May. Unlike with our first baby, we’ve had one hell of a time coming up with a name. My dad, with his weird sense of humor, got tired of us changing our minds and decided to dub the baby George. We have recently settled on a name, but we’re keeping it under wraps, so George has stuck. It’s also spread. Family and friends all call her George. We don’t mind, we think it’s kind of funny, and we don’t think there will be any trouble transitioning to her actual name when she arrives. So, did you all have any silly or funny names for your babies before they were born? My parents called me Baby Huey. I think that’s kind of cute too, and they didn’t seem to have any trouble transitioning to calling me Jennifer after I arrived. I think their biggest issue was that I was supposed to be Steven. Oops. LOL.

My youngest cousin was called Watt in the womb. I think he still gets called that 15 years later.

My cousin and her husband called their baby "Baby Jeebus" right from the first announcement as Daddy's nickname is Jeebus. She's Skylar now but every once and a while she still gets called Baby Jeebus.

I don't have children yet, but when we do, I'm hoping to keep the name under wraps until the baby is born. Our names are Quinn (me) and Sam (my husband) so my answers when people ask the baby's name will likely be one of these two options:

The baby will be named Squamm, which is our celebrity couple name, or; for a boy, we'll name it Quinn, and for a girl, we'll name it Sam.

George is cute! She might get called George a little after she's born. Hopefully Georgie or something a little more cutesy. :-)

A friend called their unborn Joe (actually their older son said he was Joe while she was pregnant and it stuck). Well they ended up using Joseph and call him Joe.

Another friend had a baby they called Frankie. They didn't know the gender. Turns out he was a boy and they called him Patrick Jr. I wonder if they all still call him Frankie! I don't know them quite well enough. Mostly just facebook info I see.

We called our son Jellyfish. He has an aquarium-themed room (since he's a Pisces, LOL), and he happened to receive a bunch of aquatic clothing and toys at the baby shower.

I called my first 3 by what I was planning on naming them. My fourth, we didn't know the sex of the baby, so needed something to call the baby besides, "it" so we dubbed the baby "Reckless".

My friend couldn't agree on a name with her spouse and they called their unborn baby Dinozzo (from NCIS). Funny thing is, they ended up naming him Anthony. ;)

I love love love the name Quinn. My daughter was almost named Quinn until I changed it to Remy. If I have another girl someday I will name her Quinn!

I quite like it myself, and have always gotten compliments on it, so I'd recommend it for a girl any day!

Remy is beautiful, too. I had never thought of that name before but it might have to go on the list!

My mom just always imagined she would have boys, so she never even considered the possibility that I would be a girl. When my folks were thinking of names they only thought abut boy names, and I was going to be Willem(Vill-um), so they called me that. Then she had an amnio and found out I was a girl, and they were super confused because they had literally not considered that at all. So I became Wilhelmina, nn Mina. That stuck super hard until right at the end of the pregnancy when they decided my name would be Georgia, but my mom said that they were SO SURE that I would always be called Mina because it was so ingrained.

Needless to say I have zero memories of ever being called Mina, but they do call me George :P

We called my son "Ziggy". My mother was asking me how we would decorate the nursery and I said, "we're thinking celestial themes,"
My husband who was listening to the phone call from across the room thought I said celestial NAMES and in horror said, "Oh my God, like what, Ziggy Stardust?" After that, Ziggy just stuck. No one calls him that anymore though. They call him Lex Luther or Crash, lol.

Before my youngest aunt was born, my grandfather was convinced that she was going to be a boy (they didn't know--this was the '60s).

Well, "Paul" had to become Paula and every now and again, Granddad would call her "John" or "John Paul."

I got pregnant with my first right before a trip so we called her the Passenger.

This one we've been calling Mr Bean or Beanie.

A lot of Jewish couples don't find out the sex of the child or publicly announce the name ahead of time, so I don't find this weird. And I don't know anybody who has kept calling the baby by the womb nickname! Friends of ours went with Slurpee, then Burrito for the 2nd child. Our neighbors are going with bun (as in, bun in the oven), which I think is cute.
Honestly, I'd bet $5 my husband will want to go with Stormageddon, Ruler of All. Maybe Stormy for short. ;)

My first was Smalls, ala Sandlot. It was all I could think of through the 24-hour "morning" sickness.

This one, due in June, is Baby Raptor. After an early ultrasound, I brought home a picture and my daughter, then 20m, exclaimed "Baby Raptor!" ... She (the one on the inside) did look like a little dinosaur, with her finger claws curled up near her face.

Smalls didn't stick past delivery, and I don't think Baby Raptor will unless we really can't decide on a name. We have at least 8 weeks to go, so I'm hopeful.

I asked my 2 year old son what we should name his baby sister and he said, "Chocolate Chips" so that's what we've been calling her for the whole pregnancy lol. Its stuck and everyone calls her that now (or CC). I'm sure once she's here though that will stop lol

Austin was Austin or noodle, and I still call him noodle.

We have friends who called the baby Nugget. I still call him that because I'm not a huge fan of his name, lol. They are due in Sept with a new baby - Button.

My husband started calling our first Ötzi (as in the iceman) as a utero-name. I don't even remember why. I called our youngest Guillermo. Now that I think of it, I don't believe our middle girl had one, which is kind of odd. I thought she did. Neither of us remembers one though.

Do you like your name? I love Georgia but my husband vetoed it (along with everything else). Are you glad you're not Wilhelmina/Mina? I am Rosalie but I was almost Guenevere. I think I could be a Gwen but I do like Rosalie a looooot better.

We decide on names asap and call them that through the pregnancy, so nothing ever sticks after we know the sex. But I often refer to the baby in the womb as "my little {insert comparably-sized food item}." So right now I am saying my little peach or avocado. Pregnant chicken says at 16 weeks baby is the size of a grenade, but that doesn't seem right for a nickname.

Batman. The last one was called Baby Batman. I actually forget how it got started, but he was born into this world with a whole nursery full of batman gear as a result.

My son was referred to initially as Zombaby (I had severe baby brain & hubby is obsessed with zombies) and later as Chicken Stir Fry or CSF. This was because we weren't going to reveal his name until he was born so we have him a different name every time someone asked. One day, we didn't have an answer prepared so my FIL said 'why not chicken stir fry?' and it stuck. His actual name is Nolan Grayson, and no one had any issues calling him that and his 'official' nickname has been Boom since he was itty bitty.

My husband has a friend with the last name Kang, and so when she was pregnant he dubbed her daughter Liu (as in Liu Kang from Mortal Kombat, because he is a huge dork) and he would always refer to the baby as Liu or Liu Kang.

Her actual name is Hannah, and we call her Hannah now.

With our second daughter, we couldn't come up with name, so the entire pregnancy she was Bob until I eventually named her Alice the day after she was born. We also just had a boy, and everyone called him Thunder during my pregnancy, but I don't even know why, I think one of my older kids started it and it stuck :)

My sister and I did get weird nicknames at certain times, but I'm unsure whether they were unborn names or not. I [Louisa] was Tallulah and my sister [Anna] was Thing XD I really should ask them where in the hell they got those names from :p

My first daughter's in-utero nickname was Midge, and we finally came up with a nickname for the currently gestating girl #2- Smidge!!

My first daughter also had two 'joke' names before we were born, too, because we didn't reveal her name. It drove my sister CRAZY not to know, so I told her to call the baby 'Penelope Gertrude', just because it was a good mouthful. I also had a dream during pregnancy that we named the baby 'Ophelia' with the nickname 'Phelix', so I referred to her as Phelix a lot. Oddly enough, that one kinda grew on me! So far, nobody has asked about baby #2's name, and honestly, my husband and I have barely talked about it. We should probably do something about that (I'm 26 weeks)
