Love it. My husband's great grandmother was named Luella. She was unfortunately kind of crazy but I adore the name. I think the nickname possibilities are awesome... Lu, Elle, Ella, Ellie, etc. I think it is uniquely old fashioned.
A couple of years ago I met a 10 year old girl called Luella and I loved the name from the second she introduced herself! It suited her perfectly (spunky, sweet and confident) and I could see it aging well.
Love it a blogger I follow just had twins, Luella Miette and Maeve Emmeline. She has great names for her kids: sons Luca and Mason, don't know their middle names and girls Ava Florence-Beth and Ivy Milla.
I love Luella so much. I read a book that included a little girl named Luellen whose nickname was Lulie, so that's another nickname possibility. I haven't yet heard of a nickname I don't like for this name, and I love the full name as well. I see no cons with it.
