Surprise birth announcement
Feb. 5th, 2013 07:54 pmA coworker of mine had a little boy last week, and called him Dillon. I love the name, and the spelling. Not sure what his middle name is. Thing is, no one knew she was pregnant, not even her, because there was no bump.

Date: 2013-02-05 08:53 pm (UTC)As someone who currently has a fetus's foot up under my ribs, I don't know how one can mistake pregnancy for anything else without getting it checked out. Because any GI issue this active and uncomfortable should be checked out in less than 5 months' time.

Date: 2013-02-06 11:58 am (UTC)When I was unexpectedly pregnant with our first, I blamed my gastrointestinal issues for a couple weeks before I thought to test, but I was confused even them because the symptoms were so atypical!
Plus, now, at nearly 20 weeks, I can't lay on my back for a few seconds without being short of breath. I can't sleep and it's uncomfortable to move at night. Even the rolling pre-kick movements feel so different than gas!
I guess people really just only believe what they want to, though.

Date: 2013-02-06 07:11 pm (UTC)I just said its shocking to me because even with easy pregnancies, there is no way I could've not known, and it's not unusual for me to go without a period for several months.

Date: 2013-02-05 11:20 pm (UTC)The whole "being pregnant and not knowing it" is becoming more and more common these days. My mom's friend had this happen to her; her periods have always been irregular, so she thought nothing of not having it for awhile, and she didn't notice any other symptoms. Went in for what felt like really bad intestinal gas, they did an ultrasound and told her she was 5 months pregnant!

Date: 2013-02-06 11:26 am (UTC)An old school friend of mine apparently didn't know she was pregnant until she was about to pop. Tbh everyone else guessed since she had put on weight and it was all in the appropriate area and shape for a baby bump so how she didn't know was beyond me. Until we found out way after she'd given birth that the little girl's father was not the man she was in a relationship with. Then it all made sense how she "didn't know"...
But yeah that is mental that she didn't have a bump. I've seen some people not really get a bump until later on but wow :p My mum's periods have always been irregular so she was a good few months along before she realised she was pregnant with me.
