OK, so I'm not pregnant, nor plan to be anytime soon, but, my boyfriend and I are thinking marriage, which inevitably leads me to ponder babies, and baby names.

We've already agreed that if we have a girl her name would be Isobel, nn Bel. My partner wants Elliott for a boy, but it occurred to me that our names and potential girl-baby name all go by 3-letter nicknames, so it would be cute if potential boy-baby name did too.

So, what are your favourite boy names that could have 3-letter nicknames? Max, Tim, Tom & Sam are all already out for various reasons.

Eli would work as a 3-letter nickname for Elliott.

It works slightly better if you only spell it with one L, but I think it would work either way. :)

That's a tough one.

Ben - Benedict (or Benjamin or Bennett as already mentioned)
Cal - Calvin (or Callum as mentioned)
Don or Van - Donovan
Mac - Mackenzie
Rob - Robert
Mal - Malachi or Malcolm

I've got to say though, I don't know if I would start a 3-letter nickname theme. I mean, it just happens to work for the girl's name, and that's fine, but I wouldn't want to force it. I mean, you eliminate a lot of great names by trying for a specific kind of nn. Also, what happens if you have more kids?

I'm not sure if is weird either but it was all I could come up with other than the previously suggested Eli. I don't think that pairing is too Scottish, personally, but I guess it's not up to me :P
