One day your child will grow up to marry a man named Willie who will want a Willie Jr and she wont' be able to do it because her dog was named Willie....so she'll do horrible things to convince her husband to name the child anything but.

True story...only the names have changed.

You "wasted" lots of good names on pets IMO. Eleanor, Willow, Savannah, and Jade. Hopefully you have some left for having children :)

I think they're great names. I haven't heard Lillias anywhere except my great aunt.

Honestly, I hate "real" names on pets, especially when they have middle names. The only "real" names that are acceptable on pets is when they are ridiculously ugly. (My name's name is Gunther Eugene.)

Beautiful names, but I also don't usually like "real" names on pets either... unless they're completely ridiculous. My first dog was "Mikey", we had to give him away and the family had a son named "Mikey" and had to change the dogs name, and let's just say the dog was already a few years old and it was really tough to get him used to something else ("Scruffy"). After that experience, my pets have almost exclusively been named after gods/goddess, because I adore the names, but I'd never use them on a child. My dog: "Nike", my cats: "Chantico", "Luna" & "Zephyr" .

I do think "Lucy" is a cute dog name though :)! I'm not about middle names for pets...

I love the names! I hate tacky "pet names" so I totally get where you're coming from. My cats are Emma Jayne, Lila Elisabeth, and Mia Grace. I think it's imperative to give your pets middle names. :) (And I don't feel like I "wasted" any names on my kittens -- I love so many baby names but obviously can't use them all on actual babies, so what better way to enjoy them than using them on pets?)

I have enough foresight not to use names on pets, however, that I would want to use later on a baby.

Exactly. I use names that I love but wouldn't or couldn't use on a baby later on. For example, I adore Emma but would never use it because of it's popularity. I love Lila but would never use it because it wouldn't go with her last name. But at the same time, there are names I wouldn't use on a pet because I can truly see myself using them on a baby someday.
