Debutante names.

So my mother picked up this free magazine published about the posher side of our city, and it had a feature on girls who'd recently made their debut in society at this debutante ball (those still exist, apparently).  The feature listed their full names, and I couldn't resist posting the firsts and middles here.  Keep in mind that all of these girls are in their late teens (and possibly early twenties).

I think the surname-y middles may be family names and/or the mothers' maiden names.  Also, I have never seen Catherine/Katherine/Kathryn so overused in one place before.

Lots of Catherines, OMG! Annelouise Prince - ick. And to think I got chastised by my spouse that Madigan wasn't a name. Glad we didn't end up using it now though. There are a lot of Margarets too.

For a time I entertained naming a girl Madigan. Now that I see it again, I realize I still like it.

I'm impressed at how many classic names there are.

Kind of makes you wonder about the class trickle down theory with names. These are girls in their teens in higher class society and coincidentally most are old fashioned or classic which is the trend going on now with baby names. I love a lot of the names listed.

This looks like it could have come straight from my high school yearbook. I went to a fancy private high school in the South (I graduated 12 years ago but I'd be willing to bet the naming trends haven't changed much)

I'm excited to see my own name - Lauren Paige - on the list!

I love classic old names, and I think the kinds of parents who would put their daughters in debutante balls (and yes, they still exist, I had lots of friends in college who were former debutantes) are also the kind to select very classic names for their daughters.

Love Caroline Ainsley, Anais, Catherine Elizabeth, Katherine Rose, Margaret Elizabeth and Margaret Irene, Alexandra Noelle, Olivia Jane (really really like Olivia Jane), Hannah Elizabeth. I also strangely like Colby Catherine.
