New name combo obsession

I've been thinking about the name Imogen Kate a lot lately.

I've never been a fan of the name Imogen when I see it written (all I can think is "Imagine, kate!") though I've never known somebody with the name or heard it spoken so I can't say for sure.

Kate is my name and Imogen is my husband's favorite name and at the top of our list, so naturally I'm a big fan of the combo! :)

I agree with the other poster about preferring Kate to be short for something. (In my case it is Katherine.)


I'm curious, do you have any nicknames you like for Imogen?

I generally prefer long forms of names too, especially for first names, but I think it's less important on middle names. It also depends on what the name is. I think Kate stands on its own pretty well, whereas Katie wouldn't.

I kind of like Immie, not for a go-by-this-exclusively type of nickname, but as a pet name to be used here andthere. Mo wouldn't be bad, but not everyone could pull it off. Of course, there's always Genny, but I've never really been a fan of that one.

For me Imogen means nn Ginny - I knew someone who went by that when I was younger and I love it. (The Harry Potter reference does not hurt either).

Yep, I was going to agree with you about Genny (or Jenny, yikes!) but I do really like Ginny. I hadn't thought of Mo. Intriguing!

And I like Immie. Or Immi/Immy, Im, Imma, et. al.

Imogen is just one of those names I just don't get. I think it's weird and ugly. I just don't understand it! :(

Kate on the other hand is a favorite of mine!!

My biases aside, I don't think they work well together, they seem WAY too different.
