[identity profile] wizened-cynic.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
My cousin's wife had her baby on the 18th, a girl they named Kaylee Victoria.

It's NMS but I think it flows well. Hate the way they spell Kaylee though, it just looks trashy. (I know the Firefly connection and all, but still.)

I would have preferred Cayley, which is the last name of a mathematician/chemist, but even that looks kind of awkward. I love the way this name sounds but I hate the way it looks on paper.

Are there any names you guys feel the same way about?

I'm not a fan of Kaylee to begin with, but I agree that Kaylee Victoria flows fairly well. I just think they are so different in style! I don't think I have any prefered spelling of Kaylee though. I think they all look kr8ive. Kaleigh, Kaley, Kaylee, Cayley... they all look wonky in my eyes. I don't like the way it looks or sounds, honestly.

Kaylee/Cayley/Kailey/Kayleigh/whatever is too cutesy for me, and I dislike K- names.

My name is Kailee. Pronounced the same way. It's a stupid name. My 30th birthday is next month and I feel like my name is childish. I've started to go by Kail, which I don't really love either and it's only slightly better than Kay.

There are a few names that I love the sound of but hate the look of written down - Niamh and Oona (Una isn't any better) being the ones that spring to mind.

I love Firefly, but I'd not name my child Kaylee spelled that way. Or Jayne, or River, or Mal, or Wash...

Kayleigh? Now I'm not sure how to spell it.

I LOVE Malcolm and would totally use it if my last name didn't start with M., the nickname would be Mal. :-)

That's the only salvageable name form the series, IMO. I guess River is a "name," too.

I hate Kaylee any way you spell it but *at least* it isn't Keileigh or Kayeleighe or some other awful "creative" spelling!

In general I think my pet peeve names are Marley (and Marleigh/Marlee/et. al), Brinlee, and Brielle. More often than not, I also find myself disliking trendy place names. Think Bostynn, Brooklynn, Irelynn, etc.

I know a bunch of them. All spelled differently! They are all hovering between age 25-30, too, and they are: Kaylee, Kaleigh, Kayleigh, and Kailee.
