What do we think Will and Kate will call their baby? I think something traditional. Maybe George for a boy and Elizabeth or Victoria for a girl. I think Diana will be a middle name.

Royals often have two or more middle names, so I could easily see Diana as one of the middle names for a girl.

George will likely be used somewhere for a boy and I could see names like Angela or Mary or maybe even Alexandra being used. Probably not Elizabeth as a first name to avoid confusion, but it could easily be in the running for a middle name.

I agree that Diana and/or Elizabeth will be one of the middle names for a girl.

I can see Victoria and Isabelle for first names....Diana for a strong choice for a middle name (maybe first?) and Elizabeth as well.
For a boy...Henry or Phillip might be in there somewhere.

I hope they go slightly different on the first name, as whatever combination of middle names they come up with will likely be very traditional, probably after people in their family/common names for English royalty (Diana, Elizabeth, Anne, Mary, Henry, Charles, Edward, George).

Alexandra/Alexandria/Alexander.

That's really all I can think of at the moment. I too think they will use Diana as a middle name for a girl, or maybe use it as a first name.

I agree that for a girl, they will use Elizabeth and Diana for middle names. For a first name, Victoria would be a good choice.

I think for a boy, Charles and Phillip might be middle names. I like Henry or George for the first name.

Not sure about Henry for a first name, since that's Harry's name.. But agree with the others! Victoria would be a good choice.

I did not know that Harry was a nn for Henry. I thought it was Harold. I agree then, they won't name the baby Henry. Maybe James instead. I prefer that to George.

For girls: Caroline, Victoria, Maude, Eleanor, Mary, Alexandra
For boys: George, Frederick, Alfred

For middles, I could see:
Elizabeth
Diana
Catherine

Charles
William
Phillip

I didn't even see when i posted my comment that you thought of alfred & frederick too.... if they do pick one of those, it will be spooky!

I don't think they'll use Henry since that's Harry's name, but I agree that George & Phillip (& maybe Spencer, to honour Diana) are likely middles for a boy. I think they'll give a middle that can be used as a King-ly moniker, and the same if it's a girl since they're changing the succession rules. so I lean towards Elizabeth, Mary, Victoria, and Diana for middles for a girl. With QE2 being the 2nd Liz on the throne, I can see them using Victoria for the first or the middle, so she'd be QV2 eventually.

Royals never go for "trendy" names, so I think Isabelle is out. I could see Eleanor, Margaret, Helena or Anne being firsts.

For boys, I think Alfred, Frederick, or James.

It's offical now? Aww, yay!

Hmmm, lemme think... I agree, Diana will show up as a middle name, possibly Elizabeth or Catherine as well. Trying to remember what Kate's mother's name is, I wanna say Carol? Hmm... for first, something classy - Eleanor, Margaret, or Mary/Marie for a girl, or Alexander, Edward, or Michael for a boy. Boy middles are probably from the family as well - Charles, William, Harry, and I think Kate's dad's name is Joseph or something?

Anyway, yay royal baby!

Let's see...royal babies get four names if they're boys and little girls get three or four. This could get interesting. I don't think they'll go too outside the box considering this child will reign someday.

Girls: Eleanor, Charlotte, Caroline, Victoria, Alexandra
Middle: Elizabeth, Diana, Anne, Mary

Boys: Arthur, Albert, Frederick,
Middle: Charles, Henry, Christian, James, Philip, Michael

I would love it if they used Diana as a first name (it's one of my very favorite girls' names and Princess Di was awesome), but it's highly unlikely since the Queen has to approve. I'd also love to see Mary because that would be so sweet on a little girl these days. Diana and Elizabeth will probably be middle names, as most people have said. Maybe Alice or Alexandra or Victoria for first names---would they go for Amelia even though it's #1 in the U.K.? Charlotte would be adorable, but Will's uncle, the Earl of Spencer, named his seventh child Charlotte Diana earlier this year, so it's probably off the table now.

I'm less sure about boys' names, since it would have to be a kingly name, and Charles, Henry, William, Edward, and James currently have living bearers in the royal family. Maybe Arthur, Richard, John, or George?

Charles Spencer is STILL having kids? Damn. It's sad because Charlotte Diana is such a pretty name.

I hear the Royal Family avoids the name John. Not surprising, I guess, because John doesn't exactly have the best track record in the royal family. With Prince John (last child of George V) dying young in 1919 and Prince Alexander John (last child of Edward VII) dying 24 hours after birth in 1871.

Yeah, he is, apparently. Is it possible this one is from a second marriage? I know, Charlotte Diana is gorgeous and now unusable, though it would have been perfect.

Oh, did not know that about John. I was just thinking of past kings and that was one that I knew wasn't widely used. Speaking of less English kings, Stephen might be a possibility as a middle name.

I feel like Penelope would be a possibility.

It would have to be something traditional for a first name. And not currently in use, I think.

For a girl, something like Mary, Charlotte, Alexandra (Queen Victoria was Alexandrina Victoria), or Alice. For a middle name, maybe Louise, Eleanor, Helena, or Angela or Marguerite after the Queen Mother. And Diana or Frances after his mother. I would really like to see Mary as a first name. It's cute but traditional.

Boys.. Hmm. James, Edmund (hasn't been used by the Royals for a while), Albert or Arthur. I could definitely see Charles or Philip as a middle hame.
