(no subject)

My husband and I are extremely picky Virgos. We started discussing baby names before we even moved in together 10+ years ago. I'm basically saying it took us 10 years to come up with names we liked, and then we went and picked something completely different. I'd always been convinced I'd have two girls then a boy, so imagine my surprise when the sonogram said "penis". Anyway, Henry Leonard is almost two and we're trying to get back onto the baby bandwagon for round #2.

We picked Henry because it's a more traditional name, and also because it's French as well. My husband and his family pronounce it the English way, my family and I the French way (ahn-REE). His middle name is the Anglicized version of my grandfather's name (Léandre, which my husband can't pronounce to his own satisfaction).

We know for the next one we want to stick with something a little more traditional, preferrably still bilingual, with a middle name from his side of the family, so either Grace or Marion for a girl, and Melville for a boy (neither one of us is keen on Roger). For the record, my side of the family was blessed with Florilda and Euphemia and Donald (our last name is MacDonald), so none of those is a contender.

So I'm looking for ideas, please! I find it almost impossible to find boys names that I like. Girls are far easier! :D

Just to give you a notion...

Lydia
Hazel
Beatrice
Katherine (but my husband hates this)

i don't think the edward association is much of a problem. when i meet kids named edward, i don't automatically assume their parents to be twilight fans, even though i'm still considered to be in twilight's main demographic age-wise.

My daughter is Vivian, named for my late grandmother. You could spell it the French way, Vivienne, and it sounds good with both Grace and Marion. We have friends in France that we visited this past October, and I love the way they said "Vivi-enne!" - not much different than the English, but noticeable.

I was never too fond of Beatrice until I read a book recently where that was the main character's name and she had everyone call her Tris, which I thought was a cool alternative nn to Bea.
