What girls' names go well with a brother named Octavian?

My husband and I like Aurora (Rory for short), Ramona (Romy for short), and Amelia (Amy for short)...but we're not sure if they sound maybe too quirky/more modern with the very traditional Octavian.

How important to you are sibling names that "go" together? What makes two names "go", in your opinions?

ETA: We plan on using Tavi as the nn for Octavian (pron. TAY-vee).

I would hardly call Octavian "very traditional." It's pretty out there and quirky in today's world, imo. Of the three names you listed, I think Ramona works best with Octavian. Amelia would be my second pick.

I think it's fairly important. They need to have a similar feeling to them (which is difficult to explain, but it's more of a "I know it when I hear it/see it" thing).

Yes, I would consider Octavian old-fashioned instead of traditional.

I like Aurora or Amelia best with Octavian. I love Rory as a nn for Aurora, bu my personal preference for a nickname for Amelia would be Lia.

I think Aurora goes best. I like the name Amelia more, but it doesn't "match" as well.

I don't necessarily think they need to "go together," so long as they don't completely clash.

I personally most like Aurora with it. I think it sounds like it matches really well (& not at all with Ramona or Amelia, esp Amelia). And I LOVE the name Ramona. Haha. It was really important for us.

I'd say Ramona, mostly because the other two - for some reason - seem a little too feminine. That and there's the added bonus that Octavian and Ramona look rather nice when written near one another, and, of course, Ramona is a rather lovely name. :)

Ramona's the best of the ones you've chosen. I have a hard time matching names in the Classical/Greek/Roman vein because there's a sort of imperiousness about them. Ideas:

Juliana
Junia
Athena
Constanta
Regina
Portia
Johanna
Lavinia
Simone/a

Honestly, I like all 3 with Octavian, it just depends on the "feel" you're going for. For example, I think Aurora next to Octavian is a little intense because both names demand a sort of attention for being almost too regal. BUT if you say "Rory and Octavian," that sounds a lot less snooty and actually pretty cute.

Ramona does sound, as you said, a bit weak next to Octavian, but I think Romy is great (similar to Rory, which is probably why it sounds good.)

And Amelia's femininity and softness nicely offsets Octavian's harshness and masculinity.

Amy is an okay nn for Amelia. And Lia just seems like too much of a stretch because of what syllable gets the emphasis. What about Mel?

And does Octavian have a nn?

Oh dang, your cat name is so close! haha!

I think Tavi is super cute! I can't decide if Tavi and Rory are cute or too cutesy together.

Yeah, Amelia IS getting popular :-/ However, I don't think it will ever have a "generic" feel like a Jennifer or Brittany, so it might still be okay. It does flow nicely with Octavian, anyway.

I like Aurora best of your three choices. It's just such a pretty, dreamy name.

I know a woman with an Octavian and she named his sisters Ekaterina and Isadora. I always thought it was such a pretty sibset, and Aurora and Isadora have the same feel to me.

Individually, I like them in this order: Ramona, Amelia, and Aurora.
By nickname, I like them in this order: Rory, Romy, and Amy.
With Octavian/Tavi, I like them in this order: Aurora/Rory, Ramona/Romy, Amelia/Amy.

I think Tavi and Amy sound too similar what with them both having the long A in the first syllable and ending with the long E.

I like names to go together, but it's not awful if they're a little off. Now, if it was Mary and Z'quanaTarian, that would be too different from one another. I think the names you have work well enough. What makes them "go" can be something like they are from the same or similar region/language or it can just be a feeling--these just vibe right together. For me, many names have colors associated with them and so sibsets are best when the colors don't clash on top of working together for other reasons, but I'm just weird like that. ;)

Other name ideas:
Philippa (nn Pippa)
Verity (nn Vera)
Helena (nn Lena)
Thomasina (nn Tamsin)
Persephone (nn Penny, Peri, Persi)
Felicity (nn Litty? Lici/Lissi? Eliss?)
Lucia (nn Lucy)
Lydia (nn Lydie?)

You seem to like longer names with a nickname so I tried to follow that, but here are some other ones I thought went well:
Cora
Luna
Daphne
Cecily
