I had always assumed an old high school friend of mine had named her daughter Erin, because that's how it's pronounced. Then I saw on Facebook: Aeryn. It looks like a name from a fantasy novel to me. It's NMS, and the poor dear will be spelling it forever.

When I did daycare, I had a little girl name Aeryn and another girl named Raeyn (Rain). Yuck!

It reminds me of Aarin, which I've seen for Aaron. I don't think I'd ever name my child that, but I sort of like Aeryn in the sense of a fantasy novel name or something. It wouldn't surprise me if those sorts of names became very common in the future.

I might use it in a fantasy-based story, yes, but not for a real-world kid. You're right, the poor thing's gonna be spending her whole life telling people how to spell her name.

One of my step daughter's middle name is Ahren. They wanted to spell it with an A because they wanted specific initials.

Aeryn looks like a missing Targaryen relative from Game of Thrones.

I went to elementary school with an Aeryn! I don't actually remember her, but she's in my third grade class picture haha.

A friend of my fiance and myself is spelled Eren, short for Erendira.

I recently saw an "Aarynn"... I asked how to say it, the mother very rudely said, "Like Erin... how else would you say it?" :\

Aeryn's Irish or Gaelic as far as I know.
