Choosing a name with meaning was important for us when we picked our daughter, Veda’s, name. Veda means “knowledge and wisdom,” and her middle name, Blossom, has underlying connotations of beauty and growth.

We are due for baby number two in just a few weeks and to be honest, have been so very busy that we have not put quite so much thought into a name. Last night we sat down and pumped out a list. This time around it has been difficult to find a name we like both the sound and meaning of - as you may see below.

I think your naming style is the most similar to mine I've ever seen! Nearly all those names are ones I love. It's actually scaring me because I think you must have read my list! Haha.

I prefer your shorter names in combination with Veda since I prefer siblings to have names within a similar length but honestly all these combinations look lovely to me!

Here are some combinations for the names that I like and think go well with Veda.
Arlo Knox
Gus Fable (prefer August with the nn Gus though. August Poe?)
Hugo Sage
Jude Miko
Milo Story or Milo West

Alma Bee or Alma Wren
Carina Bird, Carina Sage, or Carina Song
Cosima Joy or Cosima Pearl
Delphine Lark, Delphine Sage, or Delphine Song
Juniper Lux or Juniper Song
Penelope Lark, Penelope Song, or Penelope Wren

Other ideas:
Quinn Atlas, Quinn Sparrow, Quinn Story, Quinn West - "descendent of Conn", with Conn meaning "chief"
Phineas Ash or Phineas Wolf - "Nubian" or possibly "serpent's mouth"
Xavier Che, Xavier Chet, Xavier West, or Xavier Wolf - "the new house"
Ephraim Atlas, Ephraim Knight, Ephraim Knox, Ephraim Poe, or Ephraim West - "furitful"
Louis Bear, Louis Fable, Louis Fox, or Louis Wolf - "famous warrior"

You may also like Sonnet or Ever as a middle name.

Tabitha Bee, Tabitha Lark, Tabitha Lumi, or Tabitha Wren - "gazelle"
Cora Bee - created for a novel in 1826, it may have been based on a name meaning "maiden"
Tallulah Bee, Tallulah Bird, Tallulah Sage, Tallulah Song, or Tallulah Wren - "leaping waters" or "town"
Tamsin Bee, Tamsin Darling, Tamsin Lark, or Tamsin Lux - contraction of Thomasina, fem. version of Thomas meaning "twin"
Margaret Bird - "pearl"
Daphne Bird, Daphne Lark, Daphne Pearl, Daphne Sage, Daphne Song, or Daphne Wren - "laurel"

You may also like Ever or True as a middle name.

I think people would be less likely to associate Quinn with Glee if it was being used on a boy.

Oooh, I remember you from when you were naming Veda, and I've always loved your style! Congrats on the baby!

I like Alma Bee, Alma June, and Alma Song. Philippa Lark (Pippa Lark!), Olive June, Margot Olive, and Imogen Olive. I'm a bit curious where you got your definition for Imogen. It is my husband's favorite girl name, and I was just looking it up last night! The only credible thing I found was that it was first noted in Shakespeare's Cymbeline, and that it was likely a misprint for the Celtic Innogen, which means maiden. I'd be interested to know where the other meaning comes from!

Arthur Cy, Milo Atlas, Amos Reed, Hugo Atlas,Theodore Fox and Felix Fox for the boys.

I think my two favorite first names with Veda are Veda & Alma, and Veda & Milo.

When I first saw the list, I was going to say olive Delphine, but then I realized there was a different list for middle names. I don't Know how you feel about it, but if you changed it to Delphinium it'd fit the nature-y theme. Olive delphinium.
I like Amos and Hugo best out of the boys names, but I can't find a combo I like

The two that came to mind instantly for me when looking at your lists were Amos King and Imogen Pearl

Your naming style is really fun and sweet!! I feel like your list is a dream list of names I'd never use myself, but would love to hear on others.

Because Veda has a spiritual/virtue-ish meaning and Blossom has a nature meaning, I think it's kind of a nice idea to carry that tradition on and have one of each for the first and middle name. So here are the names I think sound good next to Veda Blossom that follow that pattern:

For the boys:

Veda Blossom & Arlo Jude
Veda Blossom & Felix Sparrow
Veda Blossom & Milo Day

The boy names I really like that don't follow that pattern:
Hugo Jude (good combo)
Flynn/ Finn
Ash (as a first name)

For the girls:

Veda Blossom & Juniper Verity/Juniper Song
Veda Blossom & Margot Song/Margot Joy
Veda Blossom & Wren Claudine
Veda Blossom & Claudia May

Ones I like that don't follow the pattern:
Phillipa Lark
Penelope Song

That was fun and took me forever, haha. I hope this gives you some good ideas.

"Happy Bird"!!!!! How cute is that?! :D

I've never been a huge fan of Phillippa, but" Pippa Lark" is so adorable!!

Can't wait to see what you end up choosing!

Boys' names... I like all but Flynn, Felix, and Reuben. Is one of you red-haired?
Middle names, I like Reed and Sage, and maybe Ash (though I see that as more of a nickname).

I like all the girls' first names except Xanthe. It's not horrible, but I just wouldn't pair two end-of-the-alphabet names.
The only girls' middle name I like or don't think are bad are June, Lark, May, Pearl, and Sage.
