Mazen Duke

She said that her husband came up with the name as an alternative to Mason.

I forgot to mention that last name is Younger-Monson. Mazen Duke Younger-Monson. I mean, I love non-traditional uses of a family's last name but this is just such a mouthful.

Also, in the comments of her blog, people have mentioned that the name Mazen has an Arabic origin and she keeps suggesting that her husband "made it up."

Oh well, I'm sure he'll end up going by a shortened version once he has some say in his name. Maze Monson.

I adore KERF (and BERF) but I don't like their name choice at all. I like the way Mazen looks, but actually saying it, awful. Duke is too rough sounding for me. I prefer Mason, but I don't like the way it looks nearly as much. I like that they hyphenated last names though. Theirs sound good together, even if it is a mouthful. I knew a girl in high school with a hyphenated last name who only went by her first last name, so I imagine he might choose one to go by more often. Neat to have options. I had a terrible maiden name, lol.

Mazen just sounds like a weird spelling of some made up verb, like, "hey, wanna go mazin' tonight?!"

I think it's pretty stupid. Doesn't even look or sound like a legitimate name.
