My friend recently found out she's pregnant with her first baby. She has two step kids named Giulia (like Julia) and Bernardo.

Right now, their boy name is Isaac and their girl name is Laila like "LIE-luh." (they aren't sure about having an H at the end or not).

She's American and her husband is Brazilian, as you may be able to tell by the names.

What do you think?

I like Laila a lot... but I see "Laila" spelled like that and say "LAY-LUH." "Lie-luh" I would spell Lyla.

They should consider going with with Lila(h) or Lyla(h) because if she's America, her American family and friends are probably going to pronounce it Layla.

Giulia is okay. I like Isaac, but really only because a character I adore is named Isaac, the name itself is nice but I probably wouldn't use it.

This post is actually making me consider how much I like the name Isaac, lol. I may like it a lot more than I originally though.

I love the name Isaac but it seems out of place with the other two.
I like the girl name whether it's "Lay-la" or "Lie-luh". It's very pretty both ways.

I really like Giulia spelled that way but I would get the first "i" in the wrong spot every time!
I have terrible associations with the name Bernardo but I've never seen it as a first name which kind of sucks - I wish this was the first time I had ever heard it. It's nice and I like it better than Bernard.

my daughter is Laila and we pronounce it pronounced "Lay-luh"
would they consider Lila, Lilah, Lyla, Lylah?
although I have had the odd person look at her name and ask "How do you say that?"

I agree. I encouraged her to check out other spellings. I like Lilah a lot. We shall see!

I suggested Lilah to her, but she said that when they saw the name spelled Laila, it had a particular meaning that they both really liked, although I haven't seen it anywhere.

Haha! Yeah, Isaac is one of those names. i wasn't a huge fan at first, but the more I think about it, I kind of like it! The name is meaningful to them so that's mostly why they picked it as a possibility.

I suggested different spellings to her, but apparently they have their heart set on this one because she saw that it had a different meaning than the others, somewhere. I haven't found it myself, but if that's what they like, then I suppose that's fine.
